"Would you say the colours are birds, or do you think it's just his take on how he sees the world?"
Oh I hadn't seen it like that. I'm not inclined to interpret them as anything, possibly leaves at a push but I'd stick more to pure abstract. More like the tree being some order out of chaos? |

"Two by Burne-Jones, usually displayed together at the Lady Lever Art Gallery: The Beguiling of Merlin and The Tree of Forgiveness"
It's fascinating seeing what different people like. There's clearly huge skill in those paintings but they do nothing for me at all. |

The night watchmen by Rembrandt
Reichsmuseum amsterdam
First time I saw it I was transfixed- I thought there was a light on the painting - stunning quality, light vs dark and a magnificent size
I go to view it every time I visit now |

"Christ of St John of The Cross by Dali. "
Yep Dali created some fabulous work - mad but technically brilliant
There’s a photo of him taking his pet anteater for a walk on the paris metro. - sums him up |

"Christ of St John of The Cross by Dali. " as a clichéd teen I loved his greatest hits, but now I think I do appreciate that more than Persistence of Memory. The lack of novelty and the amazing use of perspective makes it stand up to more scrutiny maybe?

"Georges Seurat's "The Bathers at Asinieres". I've sat in the national gallery in front of it many, many times just mesmerised by everything in it.
"
Any idea why that grabbed you over A Sunday Afternoon..? |

"I love the Rothko room in the Tate Modern - sitting in there is a very emotional experience." I used to work over the bridge from there and would visit on my lunch hour. I love the seagram murals, especially as they're fairly different to his more well known pieces. Still not totally sure if their intended commercial angle should factor into how they're interpreted though.

"Disinformation - The Way Things Aren't
John Squire
Former Stone Roses guitarist?
Correct - you should check out his stuff..."
I knew he was an artist but I don't think I've seen a lot of his stuff. But I've wanted to marry him since I was about 20 |

Yes, it's a painting of people doing nothing and in the background you can see the smoking factory chimneys. The stillness in it, a moment of calm and nature away from industry. I'm probably not explaining it well, I'm not very knowledgeable about art. |

Yeah I get that. You can almost tune out whilst looking at it, be part of the relaxation in it.
Oh me neither. I only have passion for it! |

And there's me presuming that was a joke! Reminds me a bit of the bad Charmander tattoo! |

I'm not usually a huge Burne-Jones fan, but those two I find a little overwhelming and I can sit and stare for a good long while! |

In person I can imagine they must be really compelling. On a phone, not so much! |

Gustav Klimt, and of course Van Goph. However, I find modern artists just as amazing. It's why I go to burning man every year, or to the very many galleries and shows of places I travel to. Too many names to mention (Ron Mueck, Steve Mills, even HR Giger..) |

"The Venus of Urbino" by Titian.
I saw it at the Uffizi, and it took my breath away.

"I think I have a new favourite, The Tree by Philip Sutton. Google it, it's bloody wonderful.
What's your favourite piece of art? "
I googled it and liked it thanks
Recently my favourite is when I was working in Newcastle for couple of weeks and went to the Laing Art Gallery in my free time and was stricken by a beautiful painting titled 'In the end we all succumb to the pull of the molten core' by Glenn Brown have to admit I never heard of him I don't claim to be an art enthusiast but I do appreciate the fine art. |

having studied at art college in my teens then revisiting for my OU degree my view on Rothko changed dramatically....the murals room at the tate is best described as a cathedral feeling , so calming and disturbing at the same time....after those I have a huge soft spot for Jackson Pollock and Ben Nicholson (Barbara Hepworth's husband)....and anything by Robert Mapplethorpe & William Wegman

Suppose thats why I like Basquiat so much. Theres a child like playfulness to his work, be it in the shapes or the colours he uses |

My favourite is Miranda and The Tempest by John William Waterhouse. I have a copy on my bedroom wall
I like all sorts of art but particularly love artists who were part of the Pre-Raphaelite movement. |
