Train from Kings Cross was at 11:30, I hate being late so I left my hotel in Wandsworth at 09:30. Two hours, plenty of time, a bus to Clapham and missed the train to Victoria, where I would have got the underground to Kings, by seconds. A few of us did.
The chap on the platform said to go to platform 14 where the next train will go to Victoria. So we did the train was there, jumped on.
It was only a fast train to GATWICK!
We went through every station bar Epsom, where we stopped, doors didn’t open but we stopped. A chap on the train got really annoyed, pulled the emergency door open. We all got off and then missed another train to Victoria because we couldn’t get across the platforms quick enough.
I got in a minicab and we would have made the 11:30 train if it wasn’t for a few road closures in the capital.
The good news is when I did eventually get to kings, I explained to the ticket office and they gave me a paper ticket which meant I could get on the next train home.
Haven’t eaten anything all morning, yet. |

Thanks guys - I’ve had a coffee now and now I’m on chocolate and tea after a buffet car sandwich...
I’m gutted because I wanted a nice breakfast around kings cross and to have a relaxed morning before headed back to see my boys and madness ensues!

Sorry OP, I’m belly laughing right now you couldn’t make that up ! 
Moral if have plenty of time, which you did 1) always wait for the next train, there are always more 2) rail people don’t always get it right, so check the train yourself
Glad you eventually made it, relax on the journey home  |
