"Hi, I started running 2 months ago and my fastest Parkrun is 19:07. I’ve just been training twice a week, if I train 3 or 4 times a week, what do you think I could get it down to realistically ?" Honestly if you are clocking a time that fast while such a new runner and doing so little training I'd join a decent local club. Because that's an incredible time.

" Thank you, I had a base fitness from years of mountain biking. My local Parkrun is hilly, muddy and cross country which I love, my PB there is 21:57, but i wanted to see what my time would be on a flat course, so I found the flattest local one, I was very surprised at the time. I thought about joining the local running club, think I will go along Monday. What would you say the best training I can do at the moment, would it be long slow miles to build base fitness, or should I just mix it up with tempo runs and hill repeats, or is it too early for that ?

That all depends on what running goal you're aiming at... Are you going to concentrate on the "sprint" 5k, or going for something longer, half or full marathon, keeping to the roads, going trail or even ultra? Depending on your goal is, the running club is your best bet, as they'll be able to advise you best on setting these goals and what training regime you need It's also look at a decent app, e.g. ADIDAS Runtastic, as that has all sorts of built in training plans to take you to a Pb over any distance

I just want to get my 5k time down at the moment and do a bit of trail running, I might think about doing 10k down the line. I did a 8.5 mile trail run the other day, which is my longest run, took it very easy.

"Hi Wilco If you ever have an opportunity to visit Exmouth in Devon they have a brilliant Parkrun on the wide open and flat promenade. I did my best ever time there is 23:52. You'd fly."

"This morning smashed 6.5km in 42.36. Pace was 6.33 a km. first time I have ever done a 6.5km. At a half decent pace l. I actually feel ok l. The last 1km was hard. When I compared it to my 6km time I was 1min 20 sec quicker. Not bad for a fat bloke " Well done! Keep it up and you’ll soon be smashing 10km at even faster paces.

I am aiming to get to 10km by the end of the year. I think I could have got to 7km this morning but didn’t want to overdo it

You’ll be amazed how far you can go if you run to your heart. Happy to explain what that is if needed. We can’t go as far as we want normally because we go too fast and run out of sugars in your body. Running to your heart specific zone means we use fat stores as energy

" Yes... for me I run in zone 2 as I am trying to increase endurance so I need to average it to about 140 bpm.. be mindful though as depend on whatcha calculation you use that could be a lot lot lower which is difficult to achieve. The other added bonus is that I know how long I’ll run for as I only run to time so I can go out for an hour and have no worries about how far I’ve gone

"5k done again. 30:17 time. Consider how cold it was and how reluctant I was to go out. I will take it" It was cold in London this morning; normally I am really hot when running and even I was a bit more on the colder side this morning even with a thicker long sleeve running top on Decent time 30:17. My 4km was a bit slower than I would have liked. But if I was doing on a flat with no steps and no lights then it would have been nearer 24.10. Also running a 4km the day after I have run a 3km is not normally what I do. I normally give at least one clear day if not 2!!!!

" It was the 1st time this year I have felt the need to run with a second layer on top normally just shorts and T-shirt. It’s a decent around town run with a few hills to get up and down as long as you can avoid getting run over lol. Slowly building the fitness and time back in as last summer I was running 5k in about 29 minutes.

Saturday I’m up on Cleeve common am area of the cotswolds that’s classed as an area of outstanding natural beauty. #loverunning " Cleeve is one of my main running areas, loads of routes up there, and can quite quickly leave the world behind. parkrunning it this Saturday though.

"Took myself along to parkrun and got a personal best - 24:28. I'm well happy! It was really busy at the start and hard to get pace, and then it was a double look so we had TWO uphills, I was dying... But I find running alongside others drives me harder. Went out for an early morning 5km on Wednesday and may get out tomorrow, depending how my legs are functioning (fitted in some yoga this afternoon too!)." Well done that's a brilliant time!

I am going to 5km of brisk walking in morning followed by a weights session in the gym Need to get steps up
"Volunteered at parkrun this morning but planning for 2-3 hours out on the trails this afternoon. Was supposed to be helping at London Winter Run tomorrow but quite glad it's been cancelled!" Well the planned long run ended up just under 8 miles and was proper shit. I did however get to play with some dogs and watch a Red Kite so it wasn't all bad!!
