I often think this. There’s one particular person who I can’t decide is trying to be funny but really just isn’t or Is quite nasty.
It’s my worst nightmare is this though, when you’re trying to be funny/lovely and they read it as nasty.  |

I think most of the time do - however the other way round I don't think I'm always good at recognising when people are joking - has happened more than once where I've given a serious take on a thread or post, only to realise after I post it that it was a joke and everyone else saw it that way |

I tend to err on the side of caution and not say anything a lot of the time. I'm sure if I or anyone was persistent and posted loads people would get use to the style of the person posting. I'm something of a luddite when it comes to the whole social media thing, I need eye contact other wise I'm second guessing a lot. |

Text is open to misinterpretation and we don't always need to share sense of humour , that's the beauty of diversity.
Emojis help to some extent .
For me it's easier on Irish forum , know a few more people than here, so easier to know who can take a joke on the chin and who can pick up a cheeky flirt . |

Most don't but that amuses me more so that's good for me. I don't always use emojis to make it obvious either. And I do enjoy a few wind ups at specifix people or inside jokes with friends that other forums just wouldnt get or notice. |

If it's written text then it is taken by the way it is read.
I've had many instances where my words have been misread and not found funny.
But I find the same in life, some people font have my sense of humour. Some people dont have a sense of humour at all. I suppose its about finding the people with your sense of humour.

I constantly get misunderstood, more so in real life, because I speak sarcasm as my first language which, combined with my normal deadpan way of speaking, means I have a real problem with sincerity these days.
As said above, at least on here I can put emoticons at the end of my sentences. But even that's not a guarantee |
