I would hope that most people would agree that respect and rights for all should be absolutely essential requirements for a civilised society.
Can being an advocate of equal rights go too far though?
In the US Democratic Presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren has said that, if she becomes President, she will ask a “young transgender person” to interview candidates for her Secretary of Education, and only if that young trans person approves of the candidate that they will advance to the post.
Is this the right thing to do to ensure the right mindset candidate takes such a critical role, or going too far? What about approval from other minority groups?
I don’t know what the answer is (hence the question) so I’m firmly on the fence but let’s have a heated debate to settle this!
