Hey y’all

What song do you go to when you are feeling down?

Or the song that never fails to make you smile?

Or one you can’t help but sing along to or you have to get up and have dance?

I’d love some good recommendations to have a listen too

The ultimate feel good song has got to be "Mr Blue Sky". That whole song is just bursting with joy.

"Ballroom Blitz" by the Sweet or Prince's "Raspberry Beret" always make me giggle with delight. I'll think of loads more I'm sure but as for one you just can't keep still to.. Scissor Sisters "I Don't Feel Like Dancing" Great title for a song that just makes you want to get up and shake that booty like it ain't no thing!

Bang your Head - Quiet Riot

Honestly. It works.

If not, discover Postmodern Jukebox, and anything with Sad Clown singing is awsome. (They take well loved songs and redo them in swing or retro era so fantastically that you become fixated. Try tubing "all the small things" with sad clown.)

Wise Up - Aimee Mann.

Sounds like the total opposite to a feel good song especially if you watch the video featuring clips from the movie Magnolia (Aimee Mann did the entire soundtrack) but if you listen to the lyrics it really is....well I think it is anyway.

It wasn't my suggestion but it's one I haven't heard for a long time. In my twenties I had a lover who was related to two members of Suede. That one helped me get over it plus its just an incredible piece of music.

My brother bought me a copy of Strangeways Here We Come for my birthday when I was a new mother in a failing marriage, too far from home and very isolated and anxious. Two minutes into "Paint a Vulgar Picture" and I was sobbing just like you are now. This stuff goes real deep with some of us

When I hear the Beach Boys singing harmonies I think that that's how angels sound. It's just absolutely magical. Plus it makes me think of me dad

Same here!! Although Jan and Dean were equally as good, not sure if you've heard their more recent single yet.

There and to the left a bit

One of the reasons I love music so much is the range of emotions it can create and play into - so many songs that lift the spirit that I really couldn't name them all, but a recent experience to relate...

...I have a playlist on my iPod which is 1500 songs long, all songs I know I won't want to switch off if they come on - I stick it on shuffle as a go to when there's nothing specific I want to listen to...anyway a month or so back I was going through a particularly difficult time when the following three songs were played t random one after the other:

Mr Blue Sky - ELO

Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps - The Simmertones (yes the Doris Day song)

One Step Beyond - Madness

My mood was considerably brighter for the rest of that day
