I'm surprised the government didn't choose the £2 coin to use, quadruple the value and a nicer coin, I thought Brexit would of been worth the highest value coin we use. |

The thing is that the £2 will be worth what the 50p is now, a little while after the Brexit trade deal doesn't happen |

Look billions of the worlds population hope a God exist
Your lame non argument by numbers is irrelevant
Just as the God debate
If you had data to collaborate your near offensive claim we are slaves and things will dramatically and demonstrably change for our good and well being it is plausible for you the proponent to articulate your reasoning
Obviously I'm not capable of working it out and a good sage knowing benevolent teacher would be happy to explain my misguidence without insult or trite sound bite simplistic nonsensical platitudes |

"A coin that represents the epitome of nationalism.
Or a coin that commemorates the reclamation of sovereignty?"
Or neither. Maybe it's just another in a series of coins marking significant moments in the country's history? |

"I have one.. but we joined the common market.. not a federal union.. that was Brown and Blair's doing with no consultation .. imo"
This isn’t true by any stretch of the imagination. The idea that the literature of the day, in particular the “NO” campaign, didn’t argue that it was more than a common market, is a little far fetched. And the idea that the PM of the day didn’t inform the nation that it was about more than that is also the same; he even wrote an article stating so.
But that’s by the by. |

If it’s going to commemorate sovereignty then they should have waited, as on the 31st at 23:01, we will be objectively less sovereign whilst we are in the transition period, due to the agreed arrangements. |

"A coin that represents the epitome of nationalism.
Or a coin that commemorates the reclamation of sovereignty?
Then it should be a 23 carat gold £1, surely?"
Hyberbole is getting out of hand. Brexit is not the epitome of nationalism. It is no where near it and devalues the lives of those who suffered and died due to extreme nationalism.
From a remain voter who thinks we will rejoin the EU in the future but does not need extreme arguments to hold a principled view. |

Can we still spend it?
If the answer is 'Yes' which it undoubtedly is then there's no problem and its job done!
In fact we'll probably keep one back as a keepsake. |

I don't see the need for a commemorative coin, or any event for that matter, on a subject which is clearly so painful for so many. However, for the remoaners, send me your EU Exit 50ps. For each one I will keep 30p, give you 20p back and also tell you how you must spend it. That way it wil feel like you are still in the EU.. |

It's just a coin.. surely only a fool could be insulted by a coin..
I heard an interview with a long retired Cabinet Minister bemoaning the exit but his country estate has literally coined in hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of thousands of pounds from EU sources.. no wonder he is moaning about a coin..
And to be fair I have never understood the greed if those near their last year's obsessed with making even more money... |

That’s ok though because to the English, Scottish notes are a foreign currency anyway.
You ever tried to spend a £10 note in England with the bank of Scotland written in it??? |

"Its been a fairly cringeworthy day looking at the British in Europe.
Really ?"
Just looking at people sing Auld Lang syne, fairy lights, british flags waving, photos of tatcher.
Leaving the EU doesnt mean the UK has to go back to the 70s, can stay in 2020. |
