For anyone using windows 7 as you know Microsoft have stopped supporting this operating system.

However a 3rd party company is going to start doing updates for windows 7 asap.

A company called 0patch (with a zero 0)

Is going to be doing micropatches for security problems for free

Here's the news article

https://betanews.com/2020/01/23/windows-7-updates-0patch/

Hope this helps a few people out.

As a Dr of Computer and Software engineering I'm still running win7 ultimate on my main mega work pc, windows server 8 on my server and windows 8.1 on my laptop.

I hate windows 10 and its killing machine updates

For business, Windows 7 will only be supported for another 3 years. Home users need to upgrade, as the patches that Microsoft were putting out before have stopped. That's also why nokia/Microsoft mobile phones are no longer for sale at cex.

Home users dont need to upgrade.

Business users get to pay for their updates.

And did you bother to read the article?

Between Scylla and Charybdis

What article? I thought all support ran out on the 14th January? I've had my desktop offline since then. I have Windows 10 on my two laptops but hate it, so I have a Windows 7 skin on them both.

I suggest that you go on YouTube and watch Carey Holzman, a computer tech that says what can and would happen to your browser and be more likely to be a victim of id theft.

I got a free upgrade from amazon 7 to 10, which they ran long after they said they would. I like to skin products too, so that they have the feel that I want.

7 was great but I'd not trust a third party to provide free security updates as much as the original developer. Unless I needed 7 to run software that wouldnt run on 10, I'd opt for 10, as it is more secure, as it was written much more recently and will never expire.

I'm still on Windows 7.

Not sure I would want 3rd party updates?
