having thought about this for a few hours now there are a few other things i want to say...
i am a huge basketball fan... not a lakers fan, but an admirer of what he did (one of the few kjds to jump straight from high school to the nba!)
he was a huge fan of a lot of sports... actually especially football, he was a huge huge footy fan (thats why you always saw him in the nike footy commercials) and he was one of the first nba players to really get involved in issues outside of america.... and actually outside the sport (he won an oscar for being part of short film project last year)
also... the other thing you have to know is that LA isn't really a "sports town" as such! the don't need the nfl (although the nfl needs them), they tolerate hockey... USC and UCLA are fine because it is seasonal.... they are fond of the Dodgers... but the one thing in LA is that they love their Lakers!
the grammys are suppose to the held at Staples (The staples centre, home to the lakers) tonight.... but i bet by the time it starts it will have turned into a shrine on purple and yellow...
he would have been a first ballot hall of famer this year (this years class is going to be epic with him, kevin garnett and david Robinson all being slam dunks)
if you are going to go to you tube... go and watch two games.... the 81pt game against toronto to win that years nba scoring title... and his last game, the 60pt game vs utah!
rip mamba... may people on basketball courts all over the world lob up shots and call "kobe!"
