What is the etiquette when sending a friend request. Has some real shit off some when I have requested someone I like the look of. Seemingly some take them very seriously

I think it's polite to ask first. We ignore the random ones.

I send one after I've been chatting to someone a while, normally I'll ask them if it's OK first.

We ask after exchanging messages on here...we delete random ones and tend to block the senders...would you walk up to a random stranger in a pub and say 'I like the look of you, be my friend?' or would you speak to them for a bit first?

I only accept friends invites from people I've actually met in person.

People who I've chatted with face to face, maybe played with. People I'll keep in touch with.

It's not facebook, it's not a popularity contest, I'm not looking for picture collectors.

Imagine 100 single men sent you invites almost every day, how would you feel about that? They aren't your friends, you've never spoken with them and they may only want to see your friends only photos for wank material.

It's always a better option to add those you have built up some communication with, even then, it's better to ask first

The whole point of friends only pics is to only show them to people you choose. If you were going to just accept anyone who sends a request you might as well make them public.

I usually ask after chatting for a while or have met them at a club. I don’t accept random ones from people I have never spoken too

There and to the left a bit

Never send a friend request "blind" is the etiquette I go by, anyone on my friends list is either someone I have messaged with for a while (and usually asked if a friend request would be appropriate) or in a few instances people I've interacted with on the forums and we've "friended" via "Make A Friend" type threads.

I wouldn't dream of sending a friend request to someone I don't know

I clearly state in my profile "no friend requests without prior contact"

As lots of guys don't bother to read my profile this gets ignored lots, so I just delete.

You're better off leaving them there undeleted - that way they can't send you another

I only accept friends requests from people we have been chatting to and hope to meet.

I would only Dems a friend request if I've been talking to them for a while (then I generally ask if it's ok) or if I've met them and we got on well

i only accept invites once weve swapped numbers, i always send face pictures in my opening messages so need to send/receive invites if weve both swapped face pictures then i think we both should be able to tell if we fancy eachother or not.

To be fair same here with two exceptions because of distance but I'll make the effort and meet both!

I ignore friend requests unless I've agreed to accept them. My friends pictures are more private for a reason, and my friend list is a bookmark. Some random person I've never spoken to is never going to be on my list.

Indeed it is - not sure if they auto-delete after a few months, or a certain number have piled up, but it at least helps keep them at bay

The other popular "game" is accept the request when the other person is off-line, Fab a couple of their friends pics (so they know you've been there) then delete them as friends

No need to ask people. Just don't be offended if they don't accept it. The one's who give you grief like that kind of thing. Keep asking them loads of times.

I'd never accept as a friend , someone I had never heard of before no matter what they looked like.

Yes agree with that. There had to be some sort of connection. I use hotlist as a sort of bookmark system

Why do people just send random requests? We find it a bit creepy.

We have face pics in our friends pics, so we only add people we've met In person.
