I was reading that trade was slow in the first few days. Only 10 punters over the course of 3 or 4 days. Perhaps we should plan a mass invasion?

A tenner to get in at weekends. You don't have to prove that you are single. Must take photo ID.

They use facial recognition cameras, which deters me. I'm guessing it may be for alcohol fuelled bad behaviour

According to the owner you have to prove you are single via you fb relationship status.

On the report I read it sounded as if the FB status check had been dropped (along with the original entry price at weekends of £20 )

Ridiculous to charge an entry fee just for a bar ... they serve food but not included in price. Its advertised as better than speed dating but they don't do introductions or anything or even a drink lol

They had 10 people go in 5 days of being open, they time your cigarette breaks and charge ten pound entry at the weekend, all very controlling.

If it takes off it’ll be 20 blokes to every woman just like it is here. And yeah, paying to get into a pub is just utter shite tbh, probably why it’s empty.

It would be better if he held theme nights, ie a band or speed dating, those kinds of things. He's missing out in some great potential customers.

Apparently his business before was doing very well, he has majorly shot himself in the foot, it's likely to be closed after 3 months unless he changes it alot. You need photo ID to get in, and I'm certainly bothering to get some to sit in an empty bar.

For when you want a bit of peace and quiet with your pint. It gets so tiresome sometimes having to shoo away all the ladies that come flocking around attracted by the rainbow...

If you think about it, he changed it to a singles bar as he thought he was doing the world a favour by helping them find love, but if people do get together through going there, and are no longer single they can no longer go in anymore,he would run out of customers pretty soon then anyway

It's a shame to wasnt made more all inclusive to include poly people, etc.

Couldve been a good venue to run swingers socials as well

Here ...

I would have thought that any bar would be removing restrictions these days with so many closing down rather than limiting their clientele ... this bar, or at least singled only, won't last long.

Great idea but poor implementation of it so far. We alone could help to nearly fill it some nights. I'd only dream of charging to restrict numbers, if it was getting rammed.

Could play forum bingo there, I'll rummage through and outpull the balls out

It's a singles bar, poly people are attached not single as I understand it. Agree with the swingers social idea, would have to be single swingers though. Most socials are couples and single females only.

I haven't been but I read that he had dropped the price for most weekdays. Don't you have to show your FB profile or something to prove you are single? Far too much hassle for me and to be fair, if its full of people "looking for love" then I shall give it a wide berth

Yes I get it's a singles bar but people dynamics in this day and age arent so singular. Some people are attached but poly and there is literally no where for them to meet.

Shame he didn't put the energy into a swingers club for cornwall haha

I don't think he would have fared too well om BBC or fab Dragons Den.

Potentially good idea, if there's enough demand and implemented properly. He's certainly got to make it busy enough to give enough choice for people wanting to find a match - until he crosses that they threshold, it's not going to put people in. And putting weekend charges in, before they had any punters, was stupid.

"So has anyone been to this bar yet? It's now just a restaurant again, right?

There's an area still strictly for singles only, then the rest is open to anyone. I'm not going till they are paying people to go."

It's all changed now? Is it a restaurant or a pub?

.

In two weeks time it will no longer be a singles bar, saw that coming a mile off. It was a nice idea in theory but the guy running it oviously has no clue.

Central

Probably few of us are surprised. It seemed a poor implementation plan. Oh well, it's off from my places to visit.

Why is it that Cornwall Live seems hellbent on killing Cornwall?

To be fair to the guy, he tried something and well, it didn't work, for lots of reasons (ever been in Truro on a Saturday night?)

I thought it was a nice idea, but the entry fee was a little stupid and the location poor. I never went, but then I am terrified of social interaction so that's not really his fault.

Cornwall does need a "club" though and I have considered opening one, but the reality is that it would receive too much local opposition and although Cornwall is a fairly big place, it has a very small population.

I wouldn't say that about Cornwall live tbh, just that they saw fit to report on his business venture pretty much ever day for a couple of weeks. As for having a club in Cornwall, it is very much needed here, perhaps in a more secluded location around mid Cornwall may work.

We all go clubbing out of Cornwall and not sure I would go to one down here as it would be all the same people though summer would be ok!

This is true, I tend to go in the Midlands, because I am unlikely to bump into someone I know (or ex )

According to Cornwall live this evening, it is no longer a singles bar. No surprise there.
