I write this thread to see what the opinion is of others,

Often is the case I view a profile, and looking through photos I see they contain others that aren't the owner of the profile, photos such as a single person indulging in sexual acts with the opposite sex and so on.

I see this with men, women and couples.

I can't help but wonder if the other person/s consented to having these photos shown, is there anything in place to ensure that those in photos have consented, if not, should there be?

I definitely think consent needs to be obtained for a single’s profile. I’m not a fan of such ‘action shots’ and that’s why it’s an instant delete from me.

They definitely make me feel uneasy about consent. Just because the other person consented to having the photo taken doesn't mean they consented to it's distribution. I delete messages from profiles like this.

It's a tough one, certainly from the site's perspective, to manage/police - how does someone prove they have consent? And how do you know that consent is genuine without putting in place entirely impractical measures?

So I think consent has to be assumed as the only other option would be to block anyone posting pics other than those featuring themselves and no-one else - which personally wouldn't bother me in the slightest, but given the nature of the site, can see would not be well accepted by some.

Totally agree that consent should be given, but from a practical standpoint the onus of responsibility has to be on the profile owner - although from a legal perspective not sure how much reflected responsibility would be placed on the site for allowing it, but am sure the site have checked that angle to allow it.

Some will have asked consent, I guarantee there are many that haven't though. I don't think pictures and videos of other people should be allowed on profiles. Probably not a popular opinion but hey ho. It's couples profiles that I find especially problematic, you don't know who's part of the couple!

I do have pictures of that nature in my gallery and he knows, I would always ask first

He took the pictures, so they are his originally and also has them on his profile which is fine by me, and fwiw he did ask before he could share.

I guess

if their face or identifying tattoos arent in it can't see the prob really a pics a pic if you live this life and their is only one and you take pics and vids during sex you would be very naive in thinking they wont get shared, dont allow the pic or vid to be taken if its a problem thats my advice oh and in my case it doesn't bother me

It's not allowed to post pics including other people that show their faces or other identifying marks. Also the owner of the profile must be in every pic, eg. it's not allowed for a man to post a pic that only has a woman in it. Some do obviously slip through because the photo checking is not perfect, but If you see any that break the rules, please report to admin.

To add, I would not allow pics to be taken of me unless it is someone I trust.

Manchester (he/him)

I had a conversation about this a while ago.

Personally I think it's a massive grey area around who and how the person has given consent. What happens if they withdraw it? How do you police the consent?

My thoughts are that the 'extra' should be tagged and have as much control over the image as the profile owner. The site only allows images that have been consented on both sides and if one removes it, then the image is auto deleted from the site.

Actually that could have a dual benefit - as it would clamp down on "stolen" porn pics a little - which is another huge "consent" issue, because obviously none has been given in that instance.

That said the downside of what you're suggesting would be that all people featured and giving consent would need to be Fab members, which wouldn't always be the case

Then surely under the current rules, those pictures can't be posted? I think for clarity of consent, that would have to be the case as there really aren't grey areas in this matter.

What you're saying would hardly be a hardship as action photos are not a necessity in any sense.

Can you explain this?

Do you mean you read the pic rules about consent and agreed to it or someone spoke to you about consent in mail?

If action shots have been taken and one is not a fab member then it's highly likely that that person hasn't given consent for them to be used in the way that they have.

Yes,.. To clarify, I sent an edited image for approval by admin. Even though there were no identifying features of the other person, admin(or an algoryythm) thought there was, so I was asked to further edit the pic as I didn't have relevant permissions.

Ah right OK, so not verifying consent so much as making the other person less identifiable.

It's not so cut and dry, a person on fab may meet someone that isn't, take pics where the other person is under the belief that they are only for the enjoyment of those involved but the person on fab, shares the photos and the other has no knowledge.

People are allowed to change their minds. Its not as simple as blaming the person who allowed their picture to be taken, there are many reasons why they may consent to that, then later withdraw that consent.

I personally don’t like action shots. I’m looking for one single guy so I don’t want to see his conquests, they serve only two purposes to me, 1 if the female looks rough it unclean it’s an instant turn off 2 if the female is in considerably better shape than me I’ll think well he won’t want my belly slapping against him if he’s banged gym bunnies.

As for consent, I think for single profiles, it would be acceptable if the other member featured in the picture has their username on the pic and is also showing the same picture on their own profile.

Yes, it does need to be given but there's no requirement for actual proof. I'm sure I'm not the only one that can see the issue with that, especially given how readily people lie and given the law regarding 'revenge porn'

Exactly my point regarding action shots, why include them?

We all know what sex looks like, in the case of some single guys pictures, you can only see an inch of their cock in a random woman.

If I refer you to my first post - it ultimately comes down to where the onus of responsibility for that proof/consent lies and I'm not sure there's a practical way for the site to manage that - what you've suggested would work perfectly well for pictures where all people pictured are members of the site - but where they're not there's no way of policing it really - short of anyone submitting such a pic including a signed affidavit from all pictured that consent to post has been given, and that's just not practical.

The alternative is to change the rules that only the profile owner(s) are allowed to be featured (which I personally would have no issue with but am sure lots would) and that in itself still leaves couples profiles wide open to question as to who pictured is part of a profile or not.

As I said I'm not sure of the legalities around whether the site could be held responsible if one of it's members posted a pic without consent or whether responsibility would lie entirely with the poster.

And may I add... any photos taken on the night are inspected by all parties involved and deleted/cropped there and then, before they leave us. So far we've never had one asking us not to post them. Even if in future they ask us to take it down we would. We also do not keep the photos on phone once they are uploaded on here. (In case phone gets into the wrong hands etc etc)

Saying that I can understand all concerns about posting pictures involving others especially with faces showing. It's a tricky one. *Mrs

Consent is key

I wouldn’t post pics of me playing with another for my own personal taste.

If someone posted a picture of me without consent even if it wasn’t clear it was me I’d feel a massive violation of consent and of trust with that person and would never play with them again.

This is just my preference but I don’t like to see pics of people playing. No judgement in others. It’s just a turn off for me
