If you are fit and healthy, you will feel rubbish and flu like for a week or so.

Every body, every day should be washing their hands well, sneezing into tissues and taking precautions around vulnerable people, as with any virus, even the common cold, its deadly to a vulnerable person and you are infectious before you are symptomatic.

Will worrying achieve anything?

If yes, we must all worry immediately.

If no, we must all carry on as normal.

I choose the second option

It’s about a 3% fatality rate, so like bad flu. And they all had pre-existing conditions (already very ill or elderly)

And they’re still not sure it’s transferable between humans.

Practice good hygiene, look after yourself, it’ll be fine.

There’s a lot of stuff which is not fine, this isn’t yet one of them.

In cave behind a waterfall on a hill

Only if you had this for breakfast

Double, double toil and trouble;

Fire burn and caldron bubble.

Fillet of a fenny snake,

In the caldron boil and bake;

Eye of newt and toe of frog,

Wool of bat and tongue of dog,

Adder's fork and blind-worm's sting,

Lizard's leg and howlet's wing,

For a charm of powerful trouble,

Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

Double, double toil and trouble;

Fire burn and caldron bubble.

Cool it with a baboon's blood,

Then the charm is firm and good

Ok, yes, it appears as if it is yet another 'deadly' virus. However, when you look at the statistics not just about how many people died but what age group they were and whether or not they had pre-existing medical conditions, then you'd find out that no relatively healthy adult has, so far, died of the new virus. It's much more dramatic for the news to say there is this new deadly virus, it has already killed so many people. But a lot of the time they fail to mention anything about the people killed as it's not sensational enough information.

Yes, I do take into account this new virus could mutate and become even more deadly to everyone, but I'll panic when I have to.

They are more concerned it is a virus which has crossed from animal to human. If it has... and said animal(s) can be identified as the carrier they will be destroyed and the ongoing scientific studies will all of a sudden become EMERGENCY PRIORITY!

A result of the human race tinkering unknown science?

I really dont. China with a population of 1.3billion have learned from sars.

They've communicated, with as much as they know. They continue to examine and share every aspect with the world and they've shut down the public transport systems in affected areas.

They are dealing with it as best as they can and frankly I don't think our own nhs would have been able to recognise it or alert people to it any quicker.

I’ve been a bit worried tbh as 14 students and 4 teachers from my daughters school returned home from a 2 week trip to China last week. The school have been very quiet about it but parents on the group chats and forums haven’t. I’m sure all is fine but very real that potentially my child could be mixing with others that may have contracted it (although Rationally I know highly unlikely)

It's an important concern for the world, as it can pass from humans as well as mutate. We're lucky that we know of it before it arrives.

It's likely to be a low level problem but may be worse in future.

Feel lucky that it's not a bacterial infection that's deadly that starts wjen the world no longer has. Antibiotics.

I was in and out of hong kong and dya bay Guangdong provence in china working during the sars outbreak back in 2002, scary times then in 02, 18 years on and prospering c_inese folk traveling further and more times is even more a worry to me.

Scans, temp taking or anything else wont completely stop the spread so its going to be a hard one this time.

I think yes, we should be concerned but not overly worried just yet...

Could be biblical and say god sent it to cull certain nations but im not a believer in god or religion so...

"Its ridiculous. Travel in and out the country should have been stopped. Wouldnt take much for a virus to wipe out the populationI

It would solve the climate crisis though it’s like earth is protecting itself against a damaging viral infection of people.

I read that Global warming is the earth having a fever. Like any good fever it kills off its bugs.

Humans did all these things like polluting the atmosphere and not caring about the consequences. It’s like setting fire to the corner of your drawing room and ignoring it.

And wonder why we are starting to sweat"

Well said. I 100% agree. We are the viral pest our of all living organisms on earth.

A cure will be found for us by earth and may reset to the staart and try again...

Shutting down wuhan, hard enough imagine lock down china?? impossible.

Not overly concerned yet tbh. I booked flights for China actually today. Hoping it’s calmed down when I go in 6 weeks. If not I’ll just head to the Winchester till it all blows over
