Because if someone wants to tell me they love me, it would mean a million times more if they did it on any of the other 364 days of the year, rather than the day when they're prompted by florists and card manufacturers to do so.

Valentines day is the opposite of romance. Romance to me is doing something for the person that you love 'just because', surprising them with something thoughtful, special or just a little thing to show you care. Valentines day is none of those things, it's duty and obligation.

I can't think of anything less romantic than expectation.

My idea of being romantic is spelling out "let me suck that dick" in rose petals. We don't do valentines day or any holidays really but I get "just because" pressies and treats about as often as I deserve them, I guess

My OH is working a long shift. So not especially because it's Valentine's Day but because we'll both really busy in the run up what with work etc, I'm going to cook him his favourite meal and enjoy spending time with him (when he finally finishes).

I know the usual arguments about it being commercialised and pressurised but it's a nice opportunity to make a bit of a fuss over him. We already have a no overpriced flowers, gifts etc agreement in place but spending time with each other is the most precious thing we can gift.

It’s just a reminder of how unloved I am. Sometimes you want to be that woman sat in the office who looks like Interflora have moved into her office, who has multiple cards from 50,000 men she doesn’t really give a shit about and who asks if you want a chocolate from the 12 boxes of chocolates she’s been given from a few of the said 50,000 men as you try not to trip over the stuff toy collection she’s had from the remaining men.

It’s tough being single in an office on Valentines Day.

Not that I begrudge people their cards, flowers etc, honest. It would just be nice to have what they have. Someone who loves them.

We dont celebrate Valentine's day. We don't need a 'special' day to show each other that we love one another, as we show this each and every day.

Plus I (her) just checked our training plan and we have a 10 mile tempo run on that night.... which is far too important to miss. The romance can be something to look forward to later that evening

Hopefully enjoying my OH's presence for a change. Last year he was away in Germany on Valentine's day so it was quite a lonely day for me.

Is trying to surprise someone with roses anonymously even possible anymore? Is it acceptable? Breach of their human rights? Against date protection laws?

"I am hopeful that I find a date! I bloody love Valentine’s Day I seed some of my friends flowers to their offices.

I’m such a sucker for romance

Seeing you on the forum, wanted to approach but am scared !

You should be. The last man that slid into my DMs hasn’t been seen since "

Those DMs are for the brave only. The amount of shit she talks is unreal. Completely wastes my time, daily

Personally, I'm of the view that you should show your loved one how much you love them every day, not just once a year, but I'm a bit funny like that

As a restauranteur it's a double edge sword. If you don't cater for the valentine's market your restaurant will be practically empty, when you do, you only have tables of two and the spend per head is not as great as tables of 4/6. Most of the couple's on the night only seem to be out because it's valentines and the whole event seems forced and lacks enthusiasm by all concerned. I agree it's a commercial event, but your damned if you don't and damned if you do. Feeling the love folks!

We don't do Valentine's day here. We do it all year so a commercial event is tedious for us. Much rather spoil each other rotten all the time than just one day a year

My personal opinion is:

It isn't truly romantic if your told to do it on a certain day.

If you have a chance to be romantic then take the opportunity because you can, not because of the date.

Not sure the false flattery on here counts for much at all.

I would love to not be single deep down (infact even on the surface really) id love to have someone to send a cheesy card to and to spend the night snuggled up with.

Alas I have neither.

"Probably spend the day crying into a Cup of Soup

LOOOL hawww why ? That sounded cute and depressing at the same time.
