I love all animals, I currently have three rescue cats.

I would love a dog but my lifestyle wouldn't be appropriate for me to own a dog due to how much care and exercise they need, my cats are very independent

Wife’s had cats for ages i was never really that keen. We got a cat seven years ago he is great very independent and when he wants to be is very affectionate.

We got our first dog October last year a beagle puppy he’s a crazy little fucker so full of energy. He has decided he wants to be my best buddy he is great company and if you leave the room for 5 mins when you walk back in greets you like he’s not seen ya for a month. So we love both the cat and the dog but the dog is more of a companion the cat doesn’t really need us only at food times.

Why don't you rescue another cat. Dogs don't all shed the same amount of hair i.e poodles are hypoallergenic which means they shed very little to no hair, which is why they are a popular breed to cross with

"Have had both and like both but prefer dogs

I can answer that from my perspective.

As I dont have virtually any family left , he is my companion, he is the only reason I get up in the mornings , he loves me unconditionally, never lets me down , he doesnt care if I occasionally fuck up , and is always happy to see me .

More than I can say for a lot of people I know

Us too! Our first dog, a long coat.. A lot of people say they are more like cats than dogs in their behaviour anyway. Ie a bit aloof & independent.

We’ve had cats our whole lives, have several next door now we can grab for a cuddle but we’ll stick with dogs in the household now we have the free time to give them.

I have four dogs. Hubby said we could get a cat (I didn’t want a dog at all) then said ‘aw no I don’t want a cat actually. But I’d have a dog, if only you wanted one’

So I called his bluff. And within a year we had four.

I still want a cat though. But life is far too busy for that

Nah they’re wee. Three chihuahua x pugs and a pug. The pug is the hardest work - we’ve worked hard to keep him slim and healthy. He’s about 8kg and slim. And bloody hyper aaaaall the time

Yep they’re only 1/8th pug though. No health problems so far. Lily is plump, but when she came to us she was so overweight her belly dragged along the floor and she couldn’t walk - she just bum shuffled everywhere she’ll never be thin like she’s supposed to be, but she’s curvy

south west , continental

I never considered myself a cat man, but I inherited a farm cat. She was semi wild, never came indoors, but liked a bit of company every now and again and a head stroke and tickle. She became an animal friend, but sadly died of old age. I think she was around eighteen years old according to local history.

I always said to her if your going to die, die where I can find you. It took me three months to find where she died, died legs outstretched as if she was walking somewhere, I found her in a neighbours barn. She got a good burial with a nice headstone and flower garden on top in the very spot she liked to sunbath. A fitting end to a unusual friendship.

The next cat if there is one will undoubtedly find me if they want to live here.

Hubby grew up with gsd and boxers.. Desperately wanted a dog but as we both work it wasn't fair. So we got two cats... Pussy dogs.. They are affectionate and come sit stay get up and down play fetch and walk on leads. And they don't take up too much room when curled up. Best of both worlds

Been into some people’s houses who have no pets and their houses stink. Our dog is house trained and the cat is always cleaning itself so I disagree not all homes with pets stink as you put it.
