I love this. It’s another reason to move to Scotland (besides the obvious).
It’s like something from the Victorian era, but it’s a lush term. |

Well, I’ll leave the politics out of The Lounge, so besides that.....erm, tits basically.
My favourite accent, too. Ever since Clare Grogan in Gregory’s Girl, probably (ask an old relative!).
I do have a disproportionate number of Scots in my hotlist. Including you, of course .

"Hilda Ogden on coronation Street used to wear housecoats all the time "
I'm not sure anything could get less sexy
I'm not sure I ever thought in my wildest dreams I would see the name Hilda Odgen on a fab forum thread |

Indeed - Wales isn’t far behind though.
Scotland is beautiful. Hoping to visit for walking this year. Will have to pack my housecoat, just so I can drop it in to conversation.

"I hate dressing gowns!
I either lose the tying up bit and end up flashing everyone or the tying up bit dangles down the loo and gets peed on
Grrr! "
Handy for wiping your old boy on after a bout of filth though.
What? What did I say? |

"Dressing gown!
I do know a couple of glaswegians who call it a hoosecoat though "
I recall wandering Glasgow streets on an early morn, scavenging for coffee, cries of 'Where's mah hoosecoot?' ringing out from the windows above. Magical. |

A house coat is one of those nylon overalls things that cleaners and people who work in laundrette used to wear.
I'd probably be more inclined to wear one of those than a fecking dressing gown with a dangling cord |

And some that would be complaining that Hilda was way too fussy because she would never pull in the real world and it’s not a dating site! |

Dressing gown.
To me a house coat is one of them oversized aprons my granny used to wear over her clothes to protect them when she was doing her housework. |

"I have a dressing gown, my mother has a house coat. My friend's mother has a goonie, which she wears under a house coat.
My granny had a goonie "
Just screams the word "flannelette", doesn't it? Probably from C&A... |

Also the very word gown is quite strange, it's one of those words that if you say it a few times sounds weird in my head and then I forget how to spell it.
(I'm going ease off the coffee, I'm clearly over doing it for a Sunday) |
