Continue here, it is interesting to see what we all are doing and what is your fitness goal? I am going this week and I went this morning and I did a full body workout.

I go 3 times a week and I do full body workouts and my goal is to bulk up. I track my macros everyday and I eat about 3000 calories daily. I use mynetdiary to log it, it is a fun and an interactive app.

What motivates you to go? I like to watch alot of training videos and I follow few utubers like nick wright, thomas maw and I like as well 3d abs with the great dane https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmGfHk46OSU

My name is Patrick batemen...I believe in taking care of myself, and a balanced diet and a rigorous exercise routine. In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I’ll put on an ice pack while doing my stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now.

... There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman. Some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me. Only an entity. Something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours, and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable, I simply am not there.

You left an open goal there... And a cold gaze is pretty much the look on everyone face at my local gym.

I packed my membership in and just playing sports I enjoy with my mates now

I have a bit of man flu but still managed 27.5kg lateral raises in strict form for a set of 8 - so I was very happy.

All pretty easy tonight

1 x 245kg deadlift

2 x 2 @ 210kg for speed deadlift

4 x 1 @ 145kg paused bench for speed

2 sessions left this week which are very light then some near maximal lifts next week then a 2 week break of max 50% work.

Did gym last night, cardio, followed by press ups, sit ups and squat thrusts followed by quick swim sauna and steam room.

Then batch cook low fat chilli, jog down to other gym for boxing training and a walk home.

Don't do weights as in my job i can lift some heavy weights during day anyway, and i dont want anything to happen to my arms/back.

Its about general fitness, hand eye and aggression for me (I play paintball where you need to be fit, flexable and aggresive to win)

I do a lot of slow reps, especially on the negative. I've had strange looks before from guys though who are furiously smashing out their reps while swinging their weights and their backs. Yet I'm the strange one!

Life is busy with work, friends and sex so let’s keep it simple

Run or walk a couple of times a week to keep fit and the weight off ideally 2 x 10k bit it’s a tough ask and don’t risk injury for pbs

Breath daily be it yoga , Qigong or tai chi , we need oxygen and space for our mind and body to work properly

Stay strong and sexy - Bench, Squat, deadlift and wide arm pull ups , go heavy 30mins 2-3 times per week

I you have nothing else better to do , do some other Exercises.

Hiding in the shadows

It's now the 21st of Jan.

I'd planned on getting my arse back in the gym as soon as the kids back at school - 6th Jan

Damn this bloody flu virus!

I'm over the worst of it, but my chest just won't clear. I'm out of breath just walking up stairs, and yesterday I woke struggling to swallow, the glands in my neck all swelled up.

I'm currently looking like a hamster storing food for winter!

Maybe next week I'll make it to the gym

GP surgery, after Diabetic Review, is on at me to get back to a gym to lose weight.

But due to medical issues I'm not allowed to do:-

Lifting Weights above 20lbs.

Have bad Osteoarthritis in both knees, so no running type exercises.

Little articulation in both knees, so no cycling work.

Balance problems, so need to keep both feet on floor during exercise. Otherwise, I fall over.

Arthritis in both hands mean I cannot grip any equipment tightly during exercise.

But, as I've found in past 18 months, local gym referrals have resulted in trainers ignoring above or wouldn't help me.

Anyone else had similar issues?

Sorry to hear that, it must be frustrating. I have to work around a heart condition so I feel your pain with feeling limited by your health. Personally I'd suggest maybe walking on a treadmill on an incline.

Also for the grip issue you can get weight lifting straps. People use them when lifting very heavy weights that their hand grip struggles to hold. They could work for you to help you lift lighter weights on machines. You can use them with dumbbells too. I've also seen people use straps that have hooks on.

If you use a light weight and do lots of slow reps not only does it mean you can take your time but it also still really works your muscles. I can get a real burn even with 3kg dumbbells.

3 reps

230kg x 1

240kg x 1

247.5kg x 1

I now have 3 weeks rest, max weight 80% of my top sets over the last week or so fir max 3 reps then sets at 50 for 10 reps

Will allow CNS to recover, good bit of mental recovery too.

You accidently have the machine's seat collapse under you?

Happens with gym seats all the time.

Still killing it, though.

I'd told him about losing depth in my squat so we did pause squats and some resistance band stuff then finished with RDLs and then he killed me on the leg extension machine . Revised 2020 gym goals: stop beating myself up about what I'm doing. And ditch the girly press ups entirely.

Upper body day today. Of note: yes I failed to do as many reps on the assisted chinups as I wanted to, but 4 sets of 5x approx 50kg isn't bad.

Also, my gym have a daft competition where they say the gym as a whole have to lift over a certain number (in kilograms) in a month, male and female winner. I entered because whatever. I lifted 20% of the total gym goal today. Upper body

... I might be feeling pretty good about myself right now.

Although the dickhead who decided he needed the only Smith machine for 45 fucking minutes is welcome to fuck off.
