having used hotels for meets before. What are people’s preferences?

1. Premier Inn

2. Travel Lodge

3. Local place

4. Major brand such as Hilton, abusing your points and grabbing a suit

There and to the left a bit

Depends very much on where we're meeting and what is available - although will always check if there's a Jury's Inn anywhere nearby - they're a cut above Premier Inn/Travelodge, but fairly classy and yet reasonably priced

a village near Haywards Heath in East Sussex

Depends what kind of meet you are having. Of the budget hotels the premier inn ones are often better standard than travelodge.
