Serious note.

Any tips help advice appreciated on dealing with affects of chronic ptsd.

1. Memory loss

2. energy levels nil

3. Cba attitude

4. Easy get on a rant.

This is not the real me.. But it is me

Everything else.. Bloods etc.. Ok

Not hormonal either.

Confirmed with gp

On betablocker

But looking for what others have done to help themselves

Effective specialist therapy.

It's a stressor disorder, so reduce anything that is a stressor for you, so that you create as large a level of resiluence as you can build and sustain. Reduce life clutter - keep it even and simple.

Exercise will be very good for you.

Mainten relationships that are supportive. Get to share things about this with those you trust and work together to explore how they could help you generally and at tough times.

Believe that you deserve the best, as you do. Take things one step at a time, as any pressure will be a stressor.

I had counselling last year that helped.

Prior warning though - if you do go down that route it might open up old wounds like it did for me. I've blocked out a lot of traumatic details but counselling brought a lot of them back, at points I was shook by what I remembered, and shook by the fact that some times in my life are still a complete blank to me. But handling those thoughts and feelings in a professional environment was the healthiest way to do so.

I echo the above. Especially being in your body.. exercise and nature if you can.

Surround yourself with the things you know your spirit loves/what works for you and the very nature of you.

Make your world small enough to cope with, remove or avoid as much as you can practically, the things and situations that are triggers for your stress. Work within your limits and take small steps. Get strategies in place for times when a ptsd 'episode' occurs.

I found mindfulness and meditation very supportive and helpful. But only with an experienced practitioner. I was lucky to find a psychotherapist who also did mindful meditation. I found some techniques that supported me when I was physically overwhelmed, confused, panicked or mentally checking out.

I also have been a phone friend for someone who suffered these episodes, he would ring when he needed reminding or talking through his strategies. Something that may help.

I know exercise has helped me when I have been in dark places. The biggest challenge was starting back doing more of it.

I found that speaking to people who understand what you’re going through or who’s been in the same situation is a great help. I also find reading and losing myself in a book to keep my mind focussed always helped me learn to control my thoughts xxx

This definitely.

Therapy will bring back painful memories and force you to face them, it still is the best way to deal with things though.

I gave up on therapy and now I just block it out, not the most sensible thing to do but I couldn't deal with some stuff that was brought up so I'm just doing what I need to, to keep it hidden.

I was put on EMDR for the worst memories and therapy for the rest.

I'm on CBD Oil to ease the Anxiety and depression and to help me sleep better.

I did try exercise but finding the willpower to get up and out feels like a mountain climb itself.

Didnt read all comments but one of therapies used for PTSD is Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, which helps you deal with strong emotions. Perhaps worth looking into? Take care of yourself.

DBT is more used with personality disorders and complex PTSD. The first point of call for PTSD is CBT. It's also extremely difficult to obtain on the NHS, some areas have a four year waiting list! And private DBT can be up to £200 each session.

Counselling is a good place to start if you haven't already. But depending on the nature of the trauma this can be difficult to obtain also.

My trauma is historic and finding someone to treat me is tricky
