we dont see each other for a fortnight at a time, so we are well used to it.
we just look forward to the next time we see each other.
send almost all day on the phone to each other, including when im at work (luckily O2 have some decent deals for international calls).
it does get to us both, Em gets really down when the kids drive her mad too, but im alright generaly as i like being on my own a lot of the time (im a very solitary being) |

Friend I have known for 18 years is moving to S Wales nwxt month. I know it's not the end of the world I can be there in 3-4 hours if that.
But we ring each other and say fancy lunch and meet. I will miss her so much. |

Its hard when its someone extra special in your life, heartbreaking, but I suppose it depends on who it is and how long you are apart.
If its someone like a partner/bf etc its very very hard cos you miss the company and intimacy and simply the person you are used to seeing a lot of.
Friends you miss yes but the contact you have with them is different and you can use varius methods to keep in touch depending on how far away they are. Text, skype, msn etc.

"Our son is going to Austalia for a year. He leaves on June 10th, and I'm dreading him going "
My son emigrated to NZ in Feb...I don't know when I'll see him again. Miss him so much, but the fact I know he's doing what he wants to do helps a little bit |

I moved here just over 8 years ago from Canada and it is not always easy. What makes matters worse is that for almost 5 of those years I have been on my own with the kids so is really tough not having family around. For me cheap long distance calls, skype and facebook help a lot in staying in touch with everyone back home.Sadly I can not afford a trip home but it was my choice to come here so I deal with it |
