He was excellent and I feel privileged to have seen him in concert over the decades.
His '69 to '79 period has to be his best IMHO, and he did produce some decent later albums, I enjoyed Tin Machine too. |

I think regardless of whether they are a dyed in the mool fan or not, pretty much everyone has a Bowie song that reminds them of something. A time, a place, a person.
That I think is a sign of his genius. |

I just played "TVC15" , my favourite of his songs. "Starman" is one of those songs where I can see and smell and taste the seventies again when I hear it. "Changes" jellies me every time I play it and "Golden Years" makes me think of my twenties and the times when days were warm and nights were yu-huh-hunnnngggg. We were so lucky to have him |

"Got to admit though.
Ashes to Ashes is my favourite. The synths are synths are mint in it"
I remember seeing on Crackerjack (CRACKERJACK)
Ashes to ashes, funk to funky
Major Tom's a cheeky monkey
One for the kids there |

Station To Station is my favourite album. The last one he wrote and recorded whilst still under his addictions but the title tract is a little known masterpiece ![](/icons/s/razz.gif) |

I'm sure a lot of us are old enough to remember him at Live Aid. Everyone remembers Queen but I always think of him in his serious moonlight suit and the amazing band he'd put together and the sheer class of his whole appearance. He had Thomas Dolby on keyboards who was an artist in his own right. He looked magnificent and sounded incredible. It's the kind of thing I watch when I need cheering up.
Freddie, on his deathbed to Elton John : "Have you heard Mrs Bowie's new album? What DOES she think she's doing??" They don't make 'em like those guys any more |
