I've not slept more than 2 hours a night for the last 3 nights and I'm struggling add to that emotional turmoil is there any tips to sleep? My white notice app is annoying me. |

Off to buy some night nurse tomorrow. I do have zopiclone for When I get really exhausted as I'm a terrible insomniac but I try not to have induced sleep. |

Probably depends on the reason.
There’s some great pills I use occasionally for night flights when I need to work next day that put you out fast but it’s probably a bad idea for you. why aren’t you sleeping ?
Alcohol, worrying about things and even the tiniest bit of light is really bad, if you have you got rid of those and still can’t sleep maybe you’re just not that tired. All that relax and bath stuff is nonsense btw |

I really struggle with insomnia.
Tricks that only sometimes help:
*warm drink
*warm bath
*eating lots of chocolate, walking about house whilst I have the high, then when the sugar rush dies, head to bed
*masterbate a minimum of 3 times
*listen to ambient natural sounds or gentle piano
*start to learn a language
*watch a documentary
*eat a lot of hot food
*turn the heating up

Sorry OP. I listen to music to help me sleep or having the TV on in the background sometimes works. If you lay there awake too long, get up for a bit and so something (tidy up etc) then try again, it works sometimes Xx big hugs xx |

Right thanks for all your tips and the ones I've received in pm. I'm going to try the bath stuff see if it helps and curl up with a hot chocolate I figure may have more chance sleeping that way if I'm not stressing in bed x |

I struggle with knowing my worth but I know it’s important when negotiating what’s right for you.
I don’t know the circumstances but usually when it’s fresh you’ll want them back?
If they ended it then let them end it and let them miss you. Just disappear. All the things that are upsetting you will be upsetting them too. |

When I can't sleep it's usually because my internal monologue won't stop.
I use either a clock that ticks or a metronome (I have a metronome set to 60 beats per minute set quietly). I listen to the ticking and visualise it in some way, like counting the ticks and visualising the numbers, or visualising a pendulum. I really make an effort to concentrate on it for as long as I can.
This helps drown out my internal monologue and I drop off because my mind is then occupied with something repetitive and boring. It's a bit like working for a living!
It's very effective. I have been using this method since my teens.

Rid your room of all electrics, even when off static plays havoc with your sleep.
No phone, the blue light stimulates the brain.
I have Alexa on my landing and I ask her to play low level nature sounds, either thunder, the sea or rain.
I have to have my room in complete darkness too so blackout curtains it is.
Have you tried mindfulness? Get some techniques on how to switch off

Only go bed when you are tired rather than lie down and stare at the ceiling. Echinacea and Hibiscus tea helps me chill before hand as well. I also try and go to bed having planned and managed everything that’s on my mind. Putting it all away mentally for the morning.
Concentrate on the route cause but that’s another thread. |

The sleep was crap before the breakup to be honest. One of the reasons I'm a grouchy bitch.
I dont have TV etc in my bedroom I do have my phone - I need it for my alarm etc and I use sleep apps on it to help, they were helping but this week nope my body is fighting sleep. If I get to sleep like I did at 2 this morning I awake for 5. |

Never heard of that I will look into it. I am due a serious MOT as my colleagues think I'm b12 deficient because I keep getting swollen lips so a gp visit is on the cards but think the gp will need to book a morning clinic just for me |

Some of us are made for that some of us aren't...I'm in the not category. Besides I'm at work till 8 then have a 45 commute home it's not happening even if I was one of those people  |

One more thing to try before hard drugs I just remembered from my younger days lifting to induce deep sleep after a hard session - big mug of hot chocolate , organic raw cacao if poss and couple of zinc , magnesium or ZMA caps.... but you might need a shave in the morning. Good luck x |
