Late 60s and 70s Vesta meals were most peoples first introduction to asian cookery. Back then we thought they were cool and exotic. Now I should think they will appear absolutely disgusting!

they are dried soya stuff and you add water and boil it or you put it in microwave for 10 minutes with loads of water we used to have them for tea on a saturday after doing the shopping with mum as a treat looking back im sure they were more punishment than treat

My mum used to get the chicken chow mein for an 'exotic' meal back in the 70s. There was a sachet of dried 'stuff' ... reconstituted errm 'chicken' and powdered sauce which had to be boiled and simmered on the hob. Then there was a sachet of flat noodles which had to be boiled. And finally, a small packet of what looked like flat, hard rubber bands. You had to fry those and they'd swell up and go curly like quavers ... they went on top of the creation.

I actually loved it - not sure what I'd think of it now

The boil in the bag was 60s...

Possibly true! I didn`t eat the original stuff because it was crap so the introduction of microwaveable versions would have passed me by!
