I feel for all those involved. The fear of being burnt to death, or suffocating on the smoke is horrible. I can't imagine seeing a huge fire just eating it's way towards everything I hold dear. Bless them all and let it rain. |

"It is heart breaking, millions of animals and all those lively hoods. They need a lot of help. "
It is heartbreaking. But it's going to be part of our future. As temperatures increase forests will become dryer.
I wonder at which point anthropogenic climate change becomes irrefutable? What would need to happen? |

"I'm surprised that we don't have the usual suspects on here saying the fires don't exist and claiming it's a conspiracy to tax us more."
Depends if the Aussie PM is on here, he sounds as much of a useless tosser as Trump & Bozo |

The equivalent area size of a similar fire in the UK, was described on a TV news bulletin over the weekend.
If you took a line directly east of Coventry to the east coast, and south from the same city, past Oxford and then due south to Southampton, that entire area is what's on fire, in terms of sq miles.
Frightening!

A friend lives in New Zealand, Sunday she posted photos of the sky in her back garden at 2pm... it was yellow orange dusty and thick “cloud”
Apparently they had to turn the lights on in the house as it became all “overcast” and dark - of course the photo is more dramatic than my explanation!
New Zealand is what a 4 hour flight from Australia!
I’ve donated to the NSW fire department and come Friday (payday) will give some to a koala hospital too.
