Do you think that 18 is too young for someone to be a member on Fab?
Would a minimum age of 21 be a better choice?
I know people can fake their age to join but do you think it would be a wise choice to raise the age limit to have an account?  |

Something wrong if 18 year olds are using sites like this.
We all know that 18 is the age considered by the law to be an adult, but...
Like everything and I mean everything, if you don't think it's right don't do it.
People should only do things they agree with, a very simple example, we all moan about the price of petrol, yet bottled water is more expensive, I don't buy bottled water, demand goes down. Either the price will come down or no longer a viable business. |

Wiser meaning that choosing a more mature age for a swingers site.
It was just a question I thought of as some clubs (swingers and non swingers) have a no under 21 or some even 25 age limit.
Its not a pop at the younger folks out there, just a general question |

And you are not being size-ist and reverse age-ist? So a spotty, overweight nerd wouldn't be welcome? Or an old geezer?
We all have preferences and long may we have them but I think the OP was referring to mental and sexual maturity which does seem to be happening later than once was the case. It needs a certain strength of character to take the knockbacks that are part and parcel of being on a Swing site.
And before people pile in I do know some 18, 19 and 20 year olds are mature way beyond their years. Especially when they return from Afghanistan in a box .. |

I get your point, but I think clubs have 21 as the lower age for licencing reasons, nothing to do with maturity. As for physical age, there are mature 21 year olds, and immature 50 year olds, so no way of being certain there.
I just did a quick browse for 18 year old guys in my area and, out of 240 profiles, only 20 have logged on to Fab in the last month so I reckon it takes care of itself. The ones who are serious about swinging and are happy to perservere are the ones who will do well anyway. |

no i dont think limit should be set at 21 to join the site . cant see how it could possibly be enforced, plus do we then set upper age limits ? after all meny may wonder why some older memebers would be on the site lol ! i just think why not ! the site provides tools to stop contact from people outside your age ranges so no reason for it o be an issue . i would also like to say there are some 18-21 years old who are very mature in out look and thoses member who are alot older who resort to the behaviour of a spoilt toddler .so i think its just case of use the filters , your own judgement and just meet then with the people you click with ...simples !! lol ! x |

have met some imature 50 year olds and some sensible men in their twenties, if your 16 you can get married and you are suposed to be an adult at 18. my hubby told me not to meet any 18 year olds he said they would be to imature, the youngest i have met was 20 but then again i once had a message from a man who on his profile said he was 30, only he sounded very imature, then he told me he was really 17, he isnt on here anymore though. |

Sixteen is the age of consent, marriage and the right to lawfully leave school. 18 year olds are two years beyond that, so what's the problem?
In law 18 is viewed as an adult. They are responsible for every aspect of their lives including behaviour, finances, roof over head, food, warmth , relationships ... everything.
If ( and note I said IF ) 18 year olds are sad for using modern technology to seek nsa sex then it follows that all of us are sad.
Why would anyone advocate a 'swinging' nsa varied lifestyle for themselves yet expect 18 year olds to toe the ideological line of vanilladom to learn about sex?
Are teenagers supposed to have tons of vanilla relationships, get engaged, get married, have kids then get divorced and start shagging around ? If that ( there's that IF again ) is so then all who agree with that are saying that swinging is unhealthy, unnatural and downright dirty and just reserved for those 'broken' enough to need it.
Why a minimum age of 21? What's the big difference ? Never mind the variation of maturity levels which has already been acknowledged. If the age is raised to 21 then they are just the same vanilla 18 year olds three years down the line without experience.
Do you really want all those 18 year olds coming on to your 18 year olds for sex ?
Does everyone really think that 18 year olds fall in love and look after your sons/daughters. They are fooking mercenary hormonally driven monsters in their pursuit of ANY kind of sex ffs....... not sweet angels who need a bit of a kiss.
They know what love is when they feel it. They know if they find 'the one' and they are very capable of knowing if they are not of the mindset that's wants to settle for 'one'

Well said Granny, I was 18 when I/we joined this site, I wanted to try a 3 some (Me not him) that is not something to ask in a pub without being labelled! Why not use a reletively safe site like this to persue my inquisitive sexual urges? I get to window shop and chat to the victim before I pounce (lol). Try asking an 18 year old guy in a pub the same questions you ask on here, he and his tosterone fuelled palls would all gather round to mock me and then want to have a go at my partner for not being "man enough"! At 18 I was very sure of my sexual needs and sensible enough to realise that the things I wanted to try could not be found in the local pub |

We had our first threesome together when we were both 18.
I asked the original question just out of curiosity, no judgement on others of any age or age.
There was nothing like this site when we were younger, in fact there was no internet as such at all.
I understand that different people have different levels of maturity no matter of their age, some people are naturally level headed and mature and others aren't.
I agree with an above post about finding the right people in the right place with the right attitude, anyone without the experience needed to further their sexual experiences could find themselves in a bad situation in the vanilla world and get scared off what could be a good side to their sex life.

Why bar an 18 year old? If you think they are immature, use the age restriction facility.
I think it is a relief if an 18 year old decides this is what she \he wants, they should be welcomed, not barred.

i know that in the us sites like this are over 21 solely because it varies from state to state and to keep it legal this is the first age where everyone is "legal"... but in the uk, if that age is 18... then i don't see a problem...
do i think personally it would make people feel more comfortable.. probably
do i think they do should do anything to the site... nope!
I was trying to think of any thing that you could do at 21 that you can't at 18... and couldn't think of many (other than clubs.. and that is more a licensing issue) |

No to be honest this actually annnoys me a little for the younger ones..
The legal age for sex is 16... yet someone if they fancy it cant go to clubs, or sign up to ANY sex site till they are 18.
I think that either the age needs making 18 for consent.. or your counted as an adult at 16.... it seems a bit silly to have those two years of limbo.
so no.. I dont think it should be 21... I think it should be up to you to decide what age you wish to meet.. as sex is for al ages..

Its each to there own i think, 16 is the legal age for sexual activity but 18 for access to clubs and sites of sexual nature....

I wouldn't meet someone as young as 18 but don't see why they should be stopped from accessing this type of site. from my knowledge and even from when i was younger kids start having sex etc before there 16so its normal for them to experiment by the time their 18

I agree that the law for entrance to adult establishments should be 21 as it acts as a buffer zone between 21 and 18. If it was lowered to 18 then the buffer zone would be 18 - 16 and that's where we enter into the realm of mature youngsters (under 16s) gaining entry and that opens up a whole can of worms.
An 18 y/o can pass as 21 in some cases but a 15y/o will never pass as 21, and that's where the buffer zone filters them out. |

An interesting point but then would you set an upper age limit too? Unless you can accurately police ages then its not likley to work as I see it. |
