Does anyone believe in love at first sight?

So you meet someone and both of you feel there is a very strong connection but you can’t explain it

You don’t want to part ways and you can’t wait to see each other. When you look at each other, you get lost in the others eyes

When you make love, you literally feel like your heart is going to explode out of your chest

Nothing matters except being together

I had that last year. Sadly he turned out to be a compulsive liar who broke my heart over and over again.

I won't believe it ever again

Ah if it's too good to be true it usually is. Sorry you had that experience.

Lust at first sight, definitely. But not love - how can you love someone that you don't even know?

It's feasible that you can assess compatibility fairly quickly but I take love to be a very deep attachment that's formed via trust, understanding and really knowing each other, which is unlikely very quickly. I reserve the right to say yes to marriage within a few minutes though, as I could be very wrong and able to marry you.

I've not experienced love at first sight but I'm sure serendipity is a thing - have observed it first hand a few times with two people introduced to one another who seem to fall in love over a weekend and are still together. Most recent have been together for about a decade and going strong.

Unfortunately not - he was married

We both felt the same (so I thought) and he was the one that chased me as I was resisting initially. Then one day he just disappeared, blocked me and decided that he wanted to make a go of his marriage as his wife found out

No I don't. I've experienced instant attraction and felt immediately drawn to a person on first meeting them but I don't really believe you can love someone until you know them flaws and all.

No. I think love is something that grows. If folks claim to have fallen immediately it's often very short lived and often appears to end with some hurt

Hard to say. I've felt incredible attraction etc instantaneously in my youth, but in hindsight..

I really miss it actually. Haven't felt profoundly attracted to anyone in years

Interesting responses

I agree that trust plays a huge role in being totally in love as without trust you don’t have anything

But for all of you that have managed to stay with your partners following that initial magical chemistry - well done you!

True love? I think that must be exceptionally rare. I think people often mistake lust for love. It’s a heady feeling when we find someone we are attracted to or connect with but that doesn’t make it love.

Used to believe everything the hormones make me believe. Took some time to realise that it's all bullshit. I would prefer knowing a person well before l decide if she is the one.
