My ex was vegan, honestly I think it did her no good whatsoever. Her diet ended up being full of unhealthy convenience plant-based freezer food, she gained a load of weight and it made her really miserable. I just don't think some people are cut out for it. I'm not going to say nobody should do it as some people appear to thrive still but I think it's unrealistic to expect everyone to be able to do it.

I don't have a problem with anyone choosing veganism as a lifestyle choice but i do have a problem with all the misinformation, manipulation of facts and downright lies some spout in order to justify it and guilt trip those that continue to eat meat.

Both sides are as cunty as each other when it comes to these things. Refuse to sit and listen and learn about the other sides point of view. I fucking despise extemists.

Extremist vegans as you say go to great lengths to be twats about their choice.

Extremist Pro meat supporters tend to then be twats by being childish and belittle vegetarians and vegans as a whole.

And so the wheel continues to turn, a never ending cycle of each side trying to prove who is the biggest twunt.

I just watched a couple of vids and read a couple of articles....

They don't hunt as such but will take advantage of carcasses etc...... specially in a harsh winter....

The vid of a deer munching on a baby bird that couldnt get a way made me feel like

As some who studies nutrition.

Vegans lack alot of vitamins and minerals that you get from a dairy and meat based food.

You should do regular check ups to see if you are deficient and lacking any vital nutrients.

The main 4 which are common are vitamin B12, calcium, iron, and zinc.

Please do your research to stay healthy.

She didn’t really go vegan then...she went Linda McCartney. That sucks. The food’s always carb loaded and joyless. I was vegan for three years and loved every second of it. Huge amounts of food, all homemade and tasted amazing. Big bowls of stews and Buddha bowls of every variety you can imagine. Turns out that when you eat meat, everything tastes of grease without you even realising it, so you never really get to taste all the rest of the food on the plate.

Don’t get me wrong, I love meat, no problem eating it, but if I could figure out how to protein bulk without chicken, steak and fish, I’d be back to vegan in a shot.

With the occasional steak thrown in every so often for balance

We're vegetarian, almost vegan.

It's possible to do with no cravings, no lack of quality, tasty food. It's just expensive to do properly.

Possibly because being vegan means a reliance on food imported from often very far places, whereas meat you can always source locally year round.

Interestingly such imports are often flown in (by far the most polluting form of transport) which makes me query the claims that veganism offers a lower carbon footprint.

Actually to her credit she was the least preachy vegan I've met, the fact we lasted nearly seven years as a couple was testament to that. She'd gone vegan before we met but looking at older photos of her made it fairly clear that she was in worse health physically since making the change from a vegetarian diet.

I really do see your reasoning in that, but it's just not the case.

The carbon footprint of a plant based diet is tiny compared to meat. Also the methane footprint (far more damaging than carbon). Then you've got things like the effluent runoff from farms, the Amazon being cut down for cattle ranches.

Going vegetarian / vegan really is widely accepted as the single biggest change you can make to help the environment.

You're right, it is all shades of grey.

Just switching to poultry and fish has a huge impact. Beef is the worst.
