I'm thinking of setting myself a challenge of reading a book a month.
Probably doesn't sound that much to done people but I get little spare time outside of work, gym, socialising etc but I want to start reading more.
So I wondered if this could work....we set a book each month and read it then review it here?
Anyone fancy it? |

No Evie and I'll tell you for why.
I like reading what I like reading and not what YOU like reading.
So how about this..........
You do the book club and set a book. Those that read it discuss it and those that read sommat else to synopses or recommendations or sommat similar |

Yeah I like that idea as well X more like a book discussion group than a book club. |

I joined Bookreads last year and they have a yearly reading challenge where you set how many books you want to read in the year.
I started it in February and set my target for 26 books but surpassed that quite quickly so upped it to 50.
I managed to read 55 books in total in 2019, something I was proud to achieve |

I have Amazon Audiobooks on when i'm in the workshop usually, so much better than music when you don't want to be noisy or have a need to feed your brain..
I have little free time to read outside of technical manual updates (exciting I know!).

If it is Goodreads, then yes there is an app as well. I use it, but keep forgetting to mark books as started or finished. |

"I used to read a lot but like many other things in life it just seemed to stop. Perhaps this is the impetus I need to get me started again "
I used to read much more than I do now. I note what I've read at the top the page in my journal and it tends to go in cycles.
I took a book on holiday that I'd been struggling with and eventually just left it in the library there with a note on the flyleaf saying "I hope you enjoy this more than me" |

I used to leave books with a note if I was traveling or pass them on x |

"I read lots. Now should a fab book group limit itself to porn, or also allow the merely mildly titillating?
We are more than porn and titillation surely"
Of course we are! Also victorian erotica...

Being slightly more serious about the concept, i do wonder if a survey of fab members reading habits would reveal any significant difference to the general population? Is there any tendency towards more "graphic" material? Or maybe it's the other way round, when people are more familiar with real-life sexual situations, there is less need for second-hand sex through erotic literature?
An interesting idea would be to have a month with two shorter books, one erotic one not, and compare criticisms. |

"I read mostly about crime, mafia.
Currently reading hitman the untold story of johnny martorano.
It's brutal and frightening
I love books like that "
It's very detailed about how the FBI were passing information to the mafia to eliminate rivals or persons of interest.
Martorano was so feared that when ever he walked down the street people knew someone was going to die.
His employment role was 'conflict resolution' and he was so confident he killed people in view of the police.

Its nice to find something in a book like a note or a bookmark. I found a letter once in one I got from a charity shop, it was all about the previous owners gynaecological problems |

Well I can post the book I've chosen and you can read the same but some people said they'd prefer to read their own book.
We can do both |

Me personally would like us all maybe to pick a book from one of the current best reads maybe and then discuss. Possibly we could decide which 2 the month before. So say jan feb be chosen now. X |
