Once more into the data breach

Just got a message from our club to say that another "local club" has had a data breach, but our data is safe with them.

Don't want rumours to start but does anyone know anything more about this?

Sorry I have duplicated this but it didn't come up on any searches. Does anyone have a link to the thread?

GDPR or DPA 2018 states:

A personal data breach is a breach of security leading to the accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorised disclosure of, or access to, personal data.

The club needs to consider if the breach of data poses a risk to people (i.e. the likelihood and severity of the risk to people’s rights and freedoms).

If it's likely that there is a risk then the club is required by law to report the incident to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Hi

I have just logged on from my chromebook, first time in ages, usually use phone and I was told there had been a data breach on FAB and that I should change my password. Anybody else had this?

Thanks

The best way not to want rumours to start is to post vague threads

Report it to the club in question...they should report it to the ICO themselves if they are all above board. If not you can report to them I believe.

Nope. Can't see why logging on via phone if Chromebook would make any difference. Don't click any links but if worried change your password on here.

As a systems developer who uses a standard equivalent to that used for credit cards that while every effort to avoid security threats there is no such thing as safe.

If being outed as a swinger would have a catastrophic effect on your personal circumstances then you need to weigh up the risk vs reward of being on adult dating sites. Bear in mind that this already happened with Ashley Madison and AdultFriendFinder.
