Hello all in Fab land

What size shoe should someone look for online if they take a mens size 12 shoe. This will be their first pair of ladies shoes so we would like to get it right.

Thank you for any advice we recieve.

Would that not still be a size 12? I’m pretty sure a mans size 7 is still a ladies size 7, maybe just a little wider.

If your male friend is looking for ladie's shoes, I would advise purchasing from a specialist supplier.

Ladie's feet tend to be narrower, so may not fit well.

Ladies feet are usually narrower so need to take this into account also if there pointed toe shoes , I usually get ladies heels one or two sizes larger than my male size foot

I think men need a size bigger in women’s shoes or have to go for wide fit. Check out Evans or Shoe Diva.

Size 12 is size 12 for both sexes though as others have commented the mens shoes may be a little wider fitting. If the heel is quite high though it's always best to increase the shoe size by one as the foot is thrown forward in high heels so that extra room may make for more comfort; especially when you also think that a man will generally be of heavier build than a women hence more weight being transmitted through the shoe. Ultimately though it's really going to be 'buy and try' as there are so many styles of women's shoes it's hard to know whether they are going to be comfy or not until you wear them. Hope this helps x

This I'm a size 9 but regularly have to look for wide fitting or a size up.

In UK sizes they're the same. I sometimes wear men's shoes, and they do tend to be a bit wider, but the same length.

Women's shoes do generally get harder to find above an 8 or occasionally a 7 though. (I'm a 7/8)

If you're looking outside the UK, sizes may differ by gender.

Check out Long Tall Sally for shoes and Magnus Shoes (Nottingam) - they both do large sizes of ladies shoes. Magnus also do different width fittings and have a larger selection of styles (although cost a bloody fortune!).

Southport / Ellesmere Port

As others have said womens shoes are generally narrower so wider fits are best. For size 12 I'd recommend shoes made my "pleaser", they aren't the cheapest but some sexy choices, great quality and are designed to fit cross dressers x
