I searched Liverpool v Wolves today and VAR was the big talking point after the match..
It works really well in Rugby Union. It works really well in Cricket.
Why does it not work well in football ?
Because the players and managers have little respect for referees.. simple..
The ref or VAR makes decision...

Offside is now being measured by millimetres instead of feet like it was before.
If the letter of the law says a gnats whisker measurement applies if any goal scoring part of the body is in advance of the second of two defending players then it’s offside.
We have been crying out for offside to be policed more accurately due to very dodgy decisions in the past and technology can deliver it.
Got to admire Spurs trying to appeal a sending off decision awarded by VAR. that’s brave  |

VAR is for clear and obvious errors. So, going to the wolves game and the Norwich game, it's not about an armour hair or a toenail being offside!!

But if it’s offside it’s offside.
Not just if it’s a top team, a Friday night game or a not so important mid table end of season win nothing game.
We just have technology capable of measuring it and it seems very accurately.
Some people whinge if they get shortchanged by 10p.
Imagine pricing done the way you want offside to be judged.
And we are talking decisions that could cost a club millions.

In theory var is fantastic but it’s being used wrongly. In rugby TMO works because the ref has more control and the players respect the referee. In football the ref gets overruled and looks like a dick, loses respect. The hand ball rule in the box is ruining the game it’s crazy. |

Generally VAR has got most decisions right but I feel it’s taking too long which to me means it’s not clear and obvious also it’s disallowing goals by the smallest of margins that to me can’t be right.Norwich v Tottenham the Norwich striker Pukki scores a goal which he is clearly onside and it’s ruled out as offside.Watfords third goal against Aston Villa should not have stood as Grelish was fouled on the half way line yet was missed and not reviewed on VAR.It seems we are talking more about VAR than the game and again I feel that can’t be right. |
