Yes it is - weird when you consider the differences in food hygiene between the UK and US.
That said, the UK is about the only country in the world whose residents (between 1980-1996) are banned from donating blood abroad on account of BSE/vCJD... thanks to Maggie T's deregulation obsession. |

There's a butcher in a wee town in Scotland called Shotts sells the best haggis pakora I have ever had |

The do have it in the US a friend gets them all the time.
She's Ulster Scott's American and her family and friends do the whole piping in the haggis night every year. |

Sadly, daaaan saaaaarf, we don’t see many wild Haggis, and there are very few Haggis battery farms down here either.
I only ever seem to get them further north (a couple of hundred miles, I’ll grant you...!) and then the best ones are the wild-trapped ones from the mountainsides... |

Love haggis. It's been given so much bad press over the years. I make croquettes out of haggis and tell people it's savoury lamb croquettes and they love them. |

The import of traditional haggis is illegal in the US. Haggis made in the US is not the real thing. The recipe is different. Traditional haggis has sheep's lung as a major ingredient, whereas there's none in US haggis - it's been banned (as 'unfit for human consumption') in the US since 1971. The texture and taste is significantly different.
Also, if you want the real thing in the UK, get it from a butcher who's known for its quality - not from a supermarket where it tends to contain pork, which is also not a traditional ingredient.
Serve with champit tatties (with butter and cream) and neeps (pop a carrot into the mash to sweeten it), and wash down with a single malt. |

Haha I made a shepherds pie, well that’s what the lad was told, he loved it. Year later served it up as should be, he pulled a face. I said no need to pull a face this is the shepherds pie you love but served as it should be... he demolished it |
