You only have to look at the number of threads on here about womens dress size or mens cock size. Slimming is a multiple billion pound industry and God only knows what they could charge if they ever developed a genuine grow your cock overnight pill!
My question is are we as a society becoming more 'sizeist' as our society evolves?
Are we more sizeist' than previous generations? |

We are...as more and more people strive to be like their favourite celb...and airbrush pictures in Papers ect make people look more perfect (waht ever that is)
Ther is more pressure than ever for people to try to look like them...make-up...slimming...gyms...cosmetic surgery...all...big and booming business models.

I think its because we're inundated with images of what is meant to be perfection at this moment in time,with so many offers of instant results to achieve this its no wonder people that are not so comfortable with themselves jump to try and fit what they think everyone else assumes is perfect,when really its mostly an illusion

Ok, here goes. Siziest is a thing in later years that we have become obsessed by. Just look at all the television programmes to do with size. With junk food and "crap" food being easily obtainable at cheap prices it has enhanced the problem along with games children play. In some schools sport is no longer part of the curriculimum but an out of school activity. Children sit with computer games ect. Adults tend to have less manual jobs than they used to.
However, body issues is certainly not new, we have had anerexia back since the 40's and 50's generally then as far as women went from reading glamour magazines and watching the film stars.
More men get eating disorders now than ever before.
It has been enhanced over the last 20 years but not a new phenomenon. |

We have all at some point been suckered in by the looks of celebs and rock stars etc and have tried to dress or look like them in some way.
I think its good when someone different from the norm makes it, like Adele, Johnny Vegas and others that break the mold of the beatiful brigade.
As for the size of male endowment, the grass is always greener and if a woman says size doesn't matter then let's see her reaction if an elephant tries to finger her!  |

I know i'd always much prefer someone with nice curves - nothing worse than the constant fear that the woman beneath you may snap like a twig at any second!
But there has to be middle gound - too skinny or too big - niether is healthy, or IMHO particularly attractive either!  |

When i started loosing weight, it was never ever about vanity, just purely health. However, i know i look better now. But i have more or less set my target weight in my head. Which will make me slightly overweight for my height but im not going to all the trouble f loosing weight to look worse at the end of it |

i think it depends alot on the individual person as well. Pre baby i was a size zero and i loved being that size, now i'm a size 10 i'm not happy and i'll be striving to lower that size again.
Its all about being healthy while doing it, i walk 20 miles a week, dance class is increasing to 3 times a week and i'm trying to get to a gym 3 times a week |

Actually I disagree.. for me the looking better part isnt the goal.. it is as I said a bi product.. I used to have a eating disorder that had me very very underweight.. then I went the other way. Now I am just trying to get to a healthy and fit weight so that I can go and be who I want to be.
I dont go much for what society says I should do or be or look like.. I am me.. that is always good enough..

I agree with you to an extent, it's ridiculous how we get bombarded with 'perfection'.
But.....go back to ancient Egypt and look at all the images in the tombs or the statues that have been found, non of them depict overweight people, the statues from ancient Greece, the paintings on the ceiling of the Sistene Chapel, the artefacts found from the Inca civilisation all slim, ripped and the percieves image of perfection.
Maybe it's not the modern phenomena most of us believe it to be? |
