...cos if you haven't and the proposals for 'opt in' adult content accompanied by proving you're 18 (with a credit card) become law... you won't be able to access this site.

When is all this going to happen, not sure whether I would want to put my credit card details on the site. Me thinks a lot of people would be deleting accounts.

Have you noticed the smoke screen policy's that seem to be coming from Westminster at the moment. They throw a load out into the public domain and then get rid of really bad ones and sneak the others though parliament, got to love it.

That is very true, I've noticed that. One thing that I do know is that hey have a huge list of plans to limit our internet freedoms. Brace yourselves for later this year.

If money grew on tree's then id be up for shopping, but i'm not working currently and cant afford lavish shopping trips like i used too. Getting into debt for stuff i do not need is not worth it

You only get into debt if you cannot manage your finances properly. Buying something simply because you want it is an ineffective financial control mechanism.

As the the internet, it has been like the old Wild West for a number of years now and it's content needs to be regulated properly so that children cannot view material inappropriate for their age group. The onus falls heavily on the parent to supervise their kids online, and rightly so, but many parents let their children roam the internet at will and I'd welcome any system that forces parents to opt in and prove they are who they claim to be as a good move, but the burden should not rest solely with the parents. Content owners should be legally forced to include PICS and content ratings embedded in the HTML coding of their websites to allow filtering software to categorise them. ISPs should also shoulder their part too and ensure that pornographic and/or sex sites (such as this one) use the new .xxx domain extension.

We can't see this happening with legislation (suspect a compromise will be worked out with some of the larger ISPs).

But if you look at mobile where all (we think?) networks have opt-in with adult content blocked by default it hasn't stopped joe public age-verifying and using sites with adult content.

It's clear that some sort of legislation is needed to prevent minors accessing sexual content. How the issue of medical journals (and it's related graphical content) is policed is another matter but pure sexual content has to be blocked by default and permitted upon request - somehow or another.

The .xxx domain seems to be an obvious move in the right direction and a very easy filter to apply.

a debit card will do all you have to do is debit £1 and they credit it straight back to you i did it years ago when i had a dongle

i personally think parents should take a bit more responsibility for their kids access to the internet, if they don't know how to work the parental controls then find out, its really not difficult if i can manage it anyone can trust me

we share the puter in our house with the kids as many do and even though our kids are now 20 and 22 they still have the parental lock on their user name as i do not want to think of them on our puter looking at porn if they wish to do that then they can do it on their phones or purchase themselves a lappy

many will call me a hypocritical parent but it is just my way i may do stuff myself as in smoke (well did but not any more), drink and watch porn but i'm not going to do anything that will encourage our kids to do so too even though they are adults, yes i'm a do as i say not as i do but i do accept that fact i don't deny it
