"Christmas Pudding vodka and lemonade for me....
Did you make that flavour yourself?
Yep, do a couple of bottles every year "
Christmas Pudding Vodka
Ingredients for 1 Bottle
• 300g mixed dried fruit (sultanas, currants, raisins)
• 100g mixed dried peel
• 75g muscovado or brown sugar
• 2 cinnamon sticks
• 2 tsp ground mixed spice
• 6 cloves
• ½ whole nutmeg, finely grated
• 1 orange - zest finely grated, squeezed for juice
• 1 unwaxed lemon - zest finely grated, squeezed for juice
• 75cl bottle good quality vodka (the better the vodka, the smoother it will be)
Method
1. Mix the dried fruit with the sugar, cinnamon sticks, mixed spice, cloves, grated
nutmeg and citrus juice and zest into a tall glass jar. (I use the IKEA 2 litre ones)
2. Pour over the vodka and close jar tightly - shake well to mix.
3. Place in a warm place (airing cupboard works well) and leave for 7-14 days, mixing
once each day (a good shake works!). The longer it is left, the better the flavour.
4. Strain through a sieve placed over a large, clean jug or bowl to remove fruit and
larger ingredients. Allow to thoroughly drain.
5. Line a sieve with a double layer of fine muslin and place over a large, clean jug or
bowl and pass vodka through this at least once.
6. Line a funnel with a coffee filter and again pass vodka through, repeating until clear.
7. Pour into bottle.
8. Enjoy!
The remaining fruit/spice mix (take out cloves and cinnamon sticks if you are going to reuse
the fruit) can be used to make mincemeat or boozy cakes and will keep in a kilner jar
for quite a long time due to the alcohol.
Muslin - don’t bother with the expensive ones from baking/cookshops - the cheap baby
ones from supermarkets work just as well. Remember to thoroughly wash and rinse them
between uses - you don’t want soapy vodka!!

I just mash up a Christmas pudding and filter through that.
The other thing that is nice is Xmas pudding smoothie. Whack a portion of Xmas pudding into the blender with milk, vanilla ice cream and a slug of rum, brandy or bourbon. Blitz until smooth and frothy, garnish with a maraschino cherry. |
