Shih Tzus don't shed at all. Most of the long hair breeds dont shed - hence why they are long haired. But they take a lot of grooming and visits for hair cuts

No I am going to sick with my first answer. I don't think dogs should be kept in sheds. Or kennels. But that is just me

This is a really good point. Non shedding dogs like shih tzus do need to be professionally groomed, think ours were done every 6 weeks or so. The dogs went with my ex 2 years ago. I do miss the dogs!

They can, as with any genetic cross, depends on what bit they inherit!

By (user no longer on site)  over a year ago

Just be careful of any of the "doddle" crosses because any genetic cross can inherit either tendencies, poodles don't shed but all the other halfs do!

DM

Shih tzu, yorkie, poodle, Bedlington, airedale, bichon froze, fox terrier, lhasa also - all non moulting. They shed the same hair as us. Need regular grooming and trimming.

Any shedding breed crossed with a poodle has a bloody good chance of moulting. Lots of moulting especially if crossed with a lab or GR

If it's the dander and allergies then get a soft curly coated type and a really good groomer.

If it's house pride any of the above will be a great family member

Don't get conned by silver tongued breeders

I disagree unfortunately in the lab cross poodle thing as not are all the same but they are all different. Just depends on many factors. Mine is non shedding

"If only there was a website you could use to search questions like this on"

But then... how does one fill one's quota of posting 20 totally vacuous questions a day? Where else will we be asked which sock we put on first, or what our favorite dental floss is? Do we not all need to know each other's hat size, and tiddlywinks league status, interspersed with suspiciously financial institution security-level thread themes like name your first pet, what model was your first car, where were you born? Isn't it wonderful that we get all these answers under one Fabulous roof instead of having to look elsewhere?
