Maldon and Peterborough

Have you tried ringing the dealer. Service depts can be very helpful.

Or owners clubs. Every type of car has them.

Normally that sounds like running on its own oil maybe... had it before on diesel jag. But petrol makes it kind of odd. What car is it..?

Check fuses and the relay on the fuel pump.

It sounds like it's possessed by demons. An exorcism may help Failing that, it could just be the cooling fan running on. Quite common in cold weather after heavy traffic.

Just stall it, I'm sure it will be fine

There are quite a few things it could be ranging from a faulty ignition switch to worst case scenario pre ignition caused by carbon build up ..

How far is your journey ?

personally I wouldn't risk it mainly because it might turn off on its own and not restart..

Is there any chance you could hire or borrow a car instead.

"Theyre prone for sticking ignition relays does it run on for 10 seconds ish"

Almost certainly switch or relay as described

Driving should be of no concern although if stopping for a break starting may be difficult if it were the switch nothing break down cover would not solve though

Near Wells

Join the AA before you set off and you'll be fine.

I think you will be fine. Hopefully just an ignition switch or relay issue.

I don't imagine modern engines having a carbon build up.

Hopefully it will be fine for Christmas and you'll have a good time.
