For the first time I'm actually spending Xmas alone.. So just wondering am I the only one...be interesting to know what is the normal thing to do when your in this situation.

I'm not looking for sympathy, I'm genuinely looking for ideas to fill the time

Find someone else who's spending Christmas alone and spend it with them.. or cone to our house, I always have an extra place setting. Weird tradition but I do !

Here ...

Why don't you volunteer with a local charity / hospice / hospital as they are always looking for support Xmas day ... fill a few hours and make you feel good

If it was me I'd get loads of nice food in, sort out some good radio and telly, maybe buy myself a book I've wanted to read for a while and enjoy a day doing exactly as I pleased. I might heave myself off the sofa at some point and have a walk.

This is pretty much what I do. Cook a nice meal, make sure I've a decent book and I'm quite happy.

I kind of had that in mind.. Got the food etc, but I'm thinking of doing what isn't a normal day so to speak

I’d have the ultimate pamper/please yourself day. Like Nicecouple said, buy yourself some lovely food and drink, watch all the cheesy films you want to, listen to music, whatever. Just indulge yourself.

On a mooch

I have this every other year. I normally have a curry and find myself a box set. If the weather is alright I get myself out for a long walk to blow the cobwebs away

You’ll figure it OP. Just do what feels right for you

That is our day .

We start with bucks fizz, bacon and eggs (after gifts of course) with something suitably festive on the radio, followed by coffee and shortbread, phone chats to family and friends, lunch, books, telly, sweets, warm, cuddly sofa time, tea, vodka, more telly.

I doubt people will come up and start chatting to a man reading a book on his own on Xmas Day. I think the volunteering is a much better suggestion.

Same here.

Single parent, mother has the children Christmas Day (the 4th year in a row, not bitter honest lol).

I have got any immediate family around here, so I will spend the day walking, local pub for a lunch time pint, and cook myself a 3 course meal whilst watching Christmas Day TV.

You slowly get used to it, and life could always be worse.

The Town by The Cross

Take a flask of boiling water upstairs, cup, tea bag.

Wake up in the morning. Have a pee. Get back in bed.

Drink tea and wake up slowly. Maybe a gentle wank after your tea and then snooze it off.

Get up - pee - Put something slow cooking in the oven.

Go for a brisk walk for an hour. Eat what ever is in the oven for breakfast.

Knock on an older alone neighbours door and say Just checking you are okay for the day ...... do you need anything ?

Offer to walk their dog later or on boxing day.

Watch sommat on T.V. on Catch up. ( not xmas shite )

Have a pee make a brew.

Phone a mate or rellie who is also alone and have a gab for half an hour.

Put something slow cooking in the oven.

Go for a quick walk ( 20 mins to half hour) throw scraps out for birds etc.

Go home. Run a bath. Have a really LONG soak. Cut toe nails. Trim body hair.

Put on Jim Jams and read for as long as you want.

Dance a bit with your headphones on.

There's always plenty to do and it doesn't cost anything.

I’m alone this Xmas for the first time. Loads of friends and even neighbors have invited me to join their day, which is so bloody lovely of them. But I’m taking a couple of days to myself. Cooked breakfast, pancakes for dinner, favourite nibbles, a stack of films. Books to read. Drum and guitar practice to catch up on. Sewing to enjoy. Baileys and snowballs all day (sewing may be interesting after a few!).

I work full time plus study for a degree. My free time is always studying. This is two days dedicated to not studying. And I’m looking forward to them

I normally spend Christmas day walking in the hills. They're always gloriously empty and it gets me away from social media etc. Then cook a new recipe that's a bit more effort than I would do day to day.

Hope you have a good one OP, whatever you find to do.
