Get some professional help and a hobby too but you need willpower if you are serious.

I like your thinking

Seriously, you WILL need willpower, ask Doc/pharmacist for some help if you need it. There are loads of patches/sprays etc. available now.

Think how much money you will save (try to use the money for something for yourself if you can, you were going to spend it on fags for you anyway)

And think of all the profiles that now will entertain you as a non smoker

Oh and if I can give up anyone can. Good luck.

Tony

I havnt had a cig in just over 2 weeks and all I did was read Alan Carr the easy way to stop smoking. I havnt needed patches or any other type of replacement, havnt needed to find anything else to do with hands and it hasn't taken any will power. Don't ask me how it has worked as I don't know but it has.

Same here, read an article on smokers patches yesterday that said following a big research into them, they were a waste of time as whilst they help with the withdrawal symptons, most people felt they were just "another cigarette" and they got hooked on them and other things like chewing gum etc Hypnosis and cold turkey seemed to be the better alternatives, though the first incredibly expensive

One of my best friends gave up easly, by having a jam jar with fagg ends in and some water so the ends soak it up. Every time she fancied a cig should would take the lid off the jar and take a good sniff. She soon stopped smoking

"i need idea's on how to keep my fingers busy and ciggy free"

Give your self a reward, whats your hobby, buy something you want for that, this sort of gives you a nice incentive, even if it costs more in the short run.

It also helps, if you know you will have a crap end of life, if you don't stop...

I found that avoiding situations where you would normally light up was very helpful. For example the 1st thing I would do was to light up as soon as I sat down at my PC,,,,so I moved it into the bedroom where I had never smoked in. the hardest one was the `after meals` one, so, I did the dishes and had a quick tidy up instead.

I've given it up in the past for between 2 days and ten months. Willpower alone for some is impossible. Some people are doing well after two weeks but after 3 months start to struggle,

I gave it up for ten months using Champix and they really work but for some but they do have their negative points. After a couple of months all cravings are totally gone and you rarely think of it. I only started it again because we had a run of bad luck and I fancied ONE fag and thought 'well i'm not gonna beat myself up over having one fag,if I want one I'll have one'

I'm back on 30 a day now..So good luck whichever method you choose and remember that when you think you've got it beat it's quite likely that you haven't

I have over the years purchased copies of Alan Carrs - Easy way to stop smoking, for 5 work mates, all heavy smokers. Four of them stopped smoking within a week of finishing the book and one didn't bother finishing reading it (guess he really didn't want to stop)

I, as a non smoker read the book and can see how the basic facts, with no scaremongering, laid before me would persuade me to stop.

Picked up copies for a couple of quid off tinterweb
