It could be that their forum messages are usually ignored, so they take a more direct approach with the people they really want to engage with. Most of the things I post in the forums never generate a response, so if I want to talk to someone I message them privately. |

Whilst I can accept that for some people it's a case of 'fab straight' or keeping options open in your specific case OP, the other side of the coin is that some people just don't feel comfortable publicly flirting and like to keep their interactions private.
There are some people on here who keep track of others interactions and can be quite nasty. |

I’m not sure if you being trans is the reason that a lot of these guys don’t interact with you on the forums. Some of them, maybe, but not all of them. Some are lurkers who don’t get the fora, some are shy, some lack confidence and some might be intimidated by you so feel safer in a 121 chat.
Life is hard enough without people making additional problems for you. Certain forum members are very good at this. Trust your instinct and simply ask them to explain their reasoning.

On a serious note, I don't see people as a man, woman, TV, TS, CD etc. I see them as human beings. If you are kind and have a good SOH, you have my full attention!
By the way I have always wondered what is the difference between a TV, TS and a CD? Please excuse my ignorance as I really live under a rock!

Because personas on forums are an illusion. How people behave in public is sometimes at odds with who they are in private. The playing of a role to attract attention here could be shattered should they interact with others and their “value” would be diminished.
Some people that come across as nice and easy going may be in truth arrogant and controlling and/or vice-versa.
I block all guys from the forum messaging me as they are a bunch of horny opportunistic chancers with the morals of a soirée of alleycats (me included obviously)
