Hi, I'm looking for some advice. A month ago I broke my knee....(tibial plateau fracture) which basically means the top of my tibia smashed to pieces. I also tore a ligament in my foot too.
I have a plaster cast on my ankle for the torn ligament. As for the knee injury, I had reconstructive surgery and have a metal plate holding it together.
They gave me a hinged knee brace unlocked at 90°, it's very uncomfortable to wear and is getting heavier due to loss of muscle mass. My knee is very sore due to the tendons getting tighter
The advice I'm looking for is can I do stretching exercises to stop it from ceasing up completely and if so what kind of exercising
Also how did you cope with the other aches and pains from lying down all the time? I can lay on my right side and my back. I can lay on my left but it quickly becomes uncomfortable. I do venture down stairs from time to time but spend the whole time fidgeting as I can't get comfy
Any after care advice will be most welcome |

Yes I broke my tibia last year and still struggling with it now. I had surgery with a external fixator fixed on it for 3 months. It took me ages to walk and I'm still on one crutch now. Have you done all your physio? |

I haven't been given any physio dates at all. I was in hospital for 12 days, had an outpatients appointment a week after been discharged, which was when they unlocked it, then was told to go back in 6 weeks |

Don't do anything until advised by your surgeon, they really do know best. |
