Christmas isn't a happy time for everyone. Sometimes it's hard to get through all the enforced cheer alone. I see you. You're important. You'll get through. It'll be over soon, promise.

(for those who love Christmas, be grateful, don't get pissed off, please)

I find it hard because I've lost my mum who loved Christmas and also lost my dad and stepdad and have very little family. I try to look at the positives but do go off for a 'chat' with my mum on Christmas day in the garden

I’m with you OP. I Come off all social media as it can make me feel sad and envious of Xmas partying social gatherings. I know my triggers so I’ve disabled my accounts a few weeks ago.

I love being with my children and I’m not a grinch but looking and seeing everyone enjoying festivity’s partying when I’m sat in can be hard for me sometimes

Definitely need those hugs, so thank you. Have lost pretty much everything this year, so it’s going to be a hard one to get through.

Thank you op, yes it's not easy time for someone like me who don't have friends and family ,feeling so lonely this time of year but i have been doing some volunteer helping serving xmas lunch for homeless charity for the Last 3 years.

I can tell you that someone out there more lonely than me and make me appreciate life more.

Merry Christmas everyone x

Christmas is also a very difficult time of year for trans people, as family might not be understanding of what they are going through. Please, if you talk to any trans girl or guy, just let them know that you are there for them at this time of year.

I am going to be spending Christmas alone this year again. Don’t have any family and don’t want to spend it with friends as Christmas is like a family thing as I see it and don’t want to ruin it for anyone.

Don’t want to tell friends as I don’t like sympathy.

I would like to send hugs and best wishes to everyone this Christmas if you are spending alone.

Have a fantastic Christmas everyone.

I’ll have my mistletoe handy if anyone wants to get snogging.

I'll be enjoying Christmas until 1pm and that's when my kids go back to their mother.

The tree will come down, house will be cleaned and tidied then it's just another day like the rest.

I always give the commercial nonsense associated with Christmas a very wide berth. Usually arrange to help out with the Salvation Army to give a Christmas dinner to the elderly/lonely/homeless. Much more fulfilling.

Xmas can be difficult for some people.. we forget how lonely some are... I love Xmas .. but if I hear Noddy Holders voice one more time the radio is doomed. Happy Fabbing

Interesting one - I subscribe to no social media at all and am perfectly happy. I don't even have a smartphone. I observe those that do - and they all seem addicted to them - and are pretty miserable when you speak to them properly. One of the greatest evils invented in my view - social media and mobile phones.

Thank you to everyone who has posted on this thread. My father passed away a week today so this will be my first Christmas without him. I have to stay strong for my mum but I know others are suffering not just with bereavement but an array of issues. I send my warmest and sincerest hugs to you xxx
