Not sure about best. Kind of feels like picking the best diarrhoea medication. Most of us are glad they exist but who really enjoys them?
Worst for me was Kos airport. Absolute chaos! Departure lounge was at full capacity so you had to queue for hours to get in to it. I never thought I'd be relieved to see my flight get delayed. |

I'd agree with manchester. It's tired and has the slowest security i've ever come across. Never been to B'gham. I well remember San Fran airport ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

Can’t say I’ve ever thought of any airport as good but have thought of some as terrible. The worst has got to be Bodrum. It’s tiny, has very few seats and I’ve always ended up sitting on the floor while waiting to get out of the god forsaken place |

Fly lots and could fill the page with stories but you've just got to put it down to part of life's rich tapestry and if you survive you've got tales to tell the grand kids ??
It goes from simply being herded and packed like sardines through to being held at gunpoint, corrupt officials, no working toilets or any food facility's,pick pockets, broken air con in Africa, bomb scare evacuations and heavily armed guards filling the airports.
* all of the above aren't at one airport

Best lounge is the ‘slow lounge’ Cape Town. I agree that Seoul is a good airport to. The computerised toilets are fabulous.
Brussels is terrible the security staff are awful, Denver is bizarre ( the devil horse statue!), Richmond VA is like a bus depot. Heathrow is like a shopping centre. Bangkok is chaotic.
Fave : Salzburg
Worst: jo burg |

Arriving into Chamberry during the ski season, absolute nightmare!! Airport is way too small to cope with the numbers, it's a physical battle to get to the belt, retrieve your bag, then get out of arrivals. |

I seem to have really bad luck with airports. It took so long to get through passport control at both Marrakech and Abu Dhabi after landing that our transport thought we weren't coming! Over two hours for each. |

I hate airports.
East Midlands vip lounge was ok as it was right by where we had to board our plane so I was throwing a few extra glasses of prosecco down my neck while watching everyone board.
The worse was Herakleon (sp) airport pure chaos and we were lucky as we had checked our bags in at the hotel but the airport itself has been improved but it's still shocking. Ridiculously warm and stuffy no where near enough seating and so cramped. |

Worst most Greek Airports semi organised chaos.
Best
Gibraltar for its quirkiness and great views it’s also efficient and quiet. Unless it’s foggy.
Qatar reigns supreme for airport lounges shopping and sheer over the top opulence. I was lucky enough to fly in a Q Suite recently and got all the trappings that came with it. The views across the tarmac to Doha are also something else. |

Worst - any that don't have a smoking area once you have gone through security or take any lighters off you as you you go through, so Heathrow for the first and Cuba for the second. Worst toilets definitely Cuba.
Best, maybe Singapore. |

Best airport was Edinburgh until the brought in the drop off charge.
Port Harcourt. International flights were through a tent with all the staff continually asking "you have something for me".
Even the customs tried to tell me I couldn't take my watch out the country as I needed to provide a receipt for tax reasons. ![](/icons/s/rolleyes.gif) |

Singapore is without doubt the best airport I’ve ever been through so far. It’s busy but organised and well laid out. The shopping is a whole new experience too!

Bad
Manchester for the most stupid airport design going and trans to airside that we have found. Bonair stopover, off and on process hilarious. Leeds for the long cold walk way.
Good Schiphol for wandering around, even an art gallery. East Midlands easy and simple. Mr |

Dublin airport is great, fly to the US with Aer Lingus and you can pre-clear US customs and immigration - no worries about missing connecting flights which is always brilliant.
LAX is the worst, just massive and confusing and hideous transfer buses and too many people. |

Another vote for Singapore - or Hong Kong. Both really easy to navigate, hassle free, with things to do to keep you entertained.
Another vote for LAX being the worst. Confusing, chaotic, long queues, rude staff. Hateful place.
I hope your boredom is brief and your travels uncomplicated. |

Singapore is lush! where else can you have a butteryfly sat on your head, while killing time waiting for your plane?
I think it was Furteventura I liked least. everything shuts down 30 minutes before the last plane leaves- which is fairy shitty when you get a 2-3 hour delay and can't even get a bottle of water ![](/icons/s/rolleyes.gif) |

Best, Baton Rouge, mostly as it's small. Austin was fantastic for international arrivals too. A huge zero people waiting for immigration checks
Worst. Another vote for LAX.
I like airports too, if their public transport links are good and affordable. San Francisco is great for its BART train links to downtown, I think for c. 10 bucks. Amsterdam is great via trains, for about 6 Euros, 20 mins or so. |

We fly a lot.
Best? Singapore.
Best assistance? Bahrain. A friend was taken ill on our flight some years ago and the help and service there was first class.
Dubai could have possibly made the list but we literally had to run from one gate to another so didn't see enough to make a proper judgement, looked good though.
Other notable ones would be Amsterdam Schipol, Atlanta (if only for its size) and Hong Kong was quite nice as well.
Worst? That's more difficult.
For worst experience it would have to be Paris CDG. By far the most obnoxious staff anywhere and not a one off. Been through there 3 times and it was always shitty.
Worst UK airport? The now defunct Blackpool. Being not far from home was convenient but that is about the only good thing I can think of.
Worst international would be Dalaman (Turkey) it's quite a few years ago but what a shit hole.
Other notable shit would be (in no particular order) Dusseldorf Weeze (now thankfully being scaled down since Ryanair pretty much pulled out) Reus Spain (stuck in the dark ages) and as someone else said Fuerteventura was pretty grotty. |

Absolute worst was Luton Airport about two years ago during some major renovation work.
Bristol Airport has a smoking area on the departures side. So, too, does Aberdeen, but they try to charge you £1 to enter it.
So Bristol is best.

For us, Birmingham was ok, cant think of a bad one, but I havent been to many airports.
Mart reckons Banja Luka was pretty bad when they re-opened it after the war, purely because the Bosnians were very hostile, armed, and went out of their way to be as difficult as possible! |

I think that I might qualify for frequent flyer status.
Worst: Cairo, Athens, Jeddah and Veer Savarkar International Airport. Chaotic, unpleasant staff, filthy toilets.
Best: Singapore, Hong Kong or Narita. Modern, efficient, spotlessly clean and staffed by people that you can engage with.

Worst in the UK : Manchester closely followed by Heathrow both of them absolute chaos, they are to small for the volume of ppl travelling these days, in Europe Frankfurt, only airport I’ve ever actually lost my cool.... also depends when in time your referring to as some now are superb but 10 years ago, absolute chaos... but in comparison with airports around the world the ones in the UK are relatively easy.
worst one of all Kathmandu ********* terrifying or a particularly one in Africa ...... some airports I’ve been in have literally been a shed on the tarmac... at least you can still get a coffee on the larger airports when things have gone tits up

"I haven't flown that much, but the worst by far was Entebbe airport in Uganda. Absolute chaos. "
Seems African airports have a bit of a reputation, noticed someone else mentioned Jo'berg above (only exquisite my worst as we managed to avoid a huge queue at security by following a steady steam of people simply walking through a narrow gap between the wall and the tape barriers - didn't instil much confidence for the safety of the short hop north to Botswana though.
Nairobi wasn't exactly great, pulled our hold luggage due to a Swiss army knife, didn't mention the Massai spear and machete in the other bag ![](/icons/s/eek.gif) |

Best: Dubai or Kuala Lumpur. IMO
"
I'm surprised and happy for the vote for KUL. It's good but can be better.
SIN is definitely amazing.
Love the toilet cubicle in KEF.
LCY is a nice UK airport.
Not sure about the worst airport. I just hate immigration in general but in BOM, I saw an immigration officer shouted and scolded a tourist for queuing at the wrong line. They also claimed to be a quiet airport and therefore no announcement, but the gate keepers will shout to call for late passengers. ![](/icons/s/rolleyes.gif) |

Where are you going OP?
I used to fly a lot and the best airport I've been to was Changi in Singapore
Singapore Airlines was a joy to be on too - it's a shame about the city!
And the worst airport I've ever been to was Bangladesh - Dhaka airport- I hid in the " toilets" and cried!
I got stranded there for 17hrs by myself - it was awful!
And Luton airport needs a mention - its dire!

I flew to Porto and was surprised at how modern and fresh looking it was. Walked through a few corridors that I would've seen on a star trek or BSG set
Singapore continues tops for many people I see. Curious now! ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |
