What's wrong with people? Its 2019 ffs! Why can't people understand that a self identifying trans woman fucking a man in the arse with her cock is a completely heterosexual act! (In the eyes of law)

Settlewick!

Until 1994,anal sex was illegal between a man and a woman;so the trans woman,if insistent on being treated as a woman would be breaking the law,but ...if she identified as her 'male birth gender', she would be acting perfectly legally

It's a fair point. Open minded means your open to another viewpoint and will accept it or refect it on its merits. This implies the opportunity to reject.

What consenting adults do to and with each other is nobody's business but theirs. That said if you don't like to see it then again that's nobody's business but yours.

The reality is that there is the law and what people think. The former can help with the latter, but it is impossible to make everybody think the same. Someday, maybe, everyone will be more accepting and considerate but till then we all have to try and be a bit better at such things.

I asked this question to challenge the poster that I quoted, who appeared to believe you “can’t change your gender”, which is often a belief of people invested in the idea there is a chromosomal binary.

I asked the question to point out that chromosomal sex isn’t straight forward, nor does it define gender.

It’s a common misconception. We align our sex with or gender. It’s only what’s on the outside that gets changed.

They don’t test trans people’s chromosomes for various reasons including that it’s not just those that determine gender.

Always someone happy to have a pop at transwomen it seems.

I'm a transwoman who's had medical interventions, including a vaginoplasty, to align my body with how I see myself. It's not perfect and I'm not trying to pretend that it makes me a cis woman, but it makes me feel a lot better about myself and I don't think I'm hurting anyone by doing it. The alternative would have been a lifetime of depression, or possibly suicide, because that's how bad life is for people like me, we don't make these choices on a whim.

Does anyone actually think that transwomen enjoy being the way we are? Because it's bloody hard, let me tell you. I wish that I had been born happy in the body that I came with, just like most of you 'normal' people out there, but it wasn't to be, unfortunately.

All I want, as with most transwomen, is to be allowed to live my life in peace, without always waiting for the next hurtful comment from someone who doesn't even realise the effect their words can have upon the wellbeing of transwomen.

We may be a joke to some of you, but to us, it really isn't very funny at all...

Don’t you just love the way people unaffected by gender dysmorphia tend to have such strong options on this subject?

Do they feel threatened in some way by what is under my clothes?

How about you try being nice to people rather than enjoying getting on your soapbox unaware of the pain your uneducated words cause to people like me.

There’s a lot of reasons why the suicide rate for trans people is so high and transphobia is the route cause of many of them.

On a slightly side note.

There has been a decrease in acceptance of the LGBT community recently, hopefully this isn't the beginning of a slow slide to the old times.

"I wouldn't matter if it was the year 3000. People can do what they want to but at the end of the day you can't change your gender despite what you think "

Sex and gender are human devised concepts that aren't as clear and certainly not as you propose to be thinking. Someone may be assigned to a specific sex from birth, due to the perception of the medical professional - this alone is open to bias and mistakes and a binary choice may not be effective, nor accurate. Gender is somewhat different and a baby hasn't the cognitive abilities to appreciate, understand, communicate nor desire to be limited in the straight-jacketed mindset styles of some others who are older. It's better to have an open mind, love your babies, children and adults as individuals as well as have sex and love those people who are right. Labels may have some uses but each person is never a label.

Society in this country is definitely sliding backwards. Hate is not just increasing, it is being encouraged by the people right at the top of the tree. For most of my life i have been lucky to see everything slowly improving, but no more. I fear that by the end of my lifetime all the gains and more will have been wiped out. Every minority will blame another minority, the majority will hate all the minorities, the few at the top will be lauded for the good job they have done in orchestrating the self-oppression of everybody.

Sometimes it can be quite funny. Many of the European people I work with have at least one science doctorate sometimes two and to see shop assistants talking slowly (because foreigners are stupid) and loudly (Loudly? Really?) (Because foreigners are deaf) with exaggerated mouth movements.... it's very funny when most of those people have a better command of the English language than we do.

One very helpful assistant, after hearing I was from Africa (yup it's a country) ussumed I was fresh off the dingy and explained how a card machine works. I played along and marveled at the wonders of electricity. Bless him

Hurtful to whom exactly? The XXY chromosomal disorder also known as Klinefelders is a very rare condition prevalent in 0.005% of the population. The only known association with LGBTQ is a study of 32 subjects that found a very minor elevation in body dysmorphia, caused by the physical symptoms of hypogonadism and infertility and a level of gynaecomastia, which was secondary to elevated autism levels. In reality this condition has approximately zero relevance to the OPs topic.

I have no issues with trans people of any label or descriptor but seeing as my sexual preference is for biological females, I dont think I am filtering myself from any demographic I am interested in.

Or are you assuming your right to be offended is more important than my right to free expression on a public forum when I haven't made a directed derogatory remark about any individual?

You're all about freedom of expression. So am I. Perhaps you missed the reaction to your comment. Hurtful to anyone whom you collectively refer to a mutants. It does not offend me personally. But this is me using my freedom of expression to A let people like you know that derogatory comments directed at people less fortunate than yourself WILL be shouted down. B let anyone on this forum who dares to be different know that there are people who aren't different who stand behind them and respect them as fellow human beings.

Gone are the days when infantile hurtful comments like yours are snickered at. They are just seen for what they are. Hurtful, thoughless words coming from someone insecure trying to big themselves up by making a joke out of someone else.

Why is keeping that comment there so important to you? Do you think it's THAT hilarious? Really?

The thing is very few of us have genetic testing so it is entirely possible for intersex people not to know that they are if they have no or only very subtle physical differences.

I've knowingly met two intersex people and only knew because they told me. One knew from birth and had various operations as a child, the other had no idea until she tried to conceive and unfortunately discovered through testing that she had no ovaries. Quite sad to be honest.

Gender is the role within a society or as a species and is often incorrectly used by the general public in place of sex.

Sex is male/female/intersex. Biological and genetic differences.

Once people start to make a knowledgeable difference between gender and sex it will be much more accurate in what each side is championing for.

Everyone through human history have used sex and gender interchangeably.

Its only been in recent years that people grabbed hold of the word gender because they know that the science is settled on sex, so they come up with this whole “social construct/ gender fluid” stuff.

Why do you care so much anyway?

As have many other “ideas” but it doesn't make them any more valid. My using everyone was quite far reaching i admit but the point still remains.

And i don’t care as such, but its certainly worth speaking up if someone is saying things as though they are facts when they aren't.

Well there is no hidden agenda if you read the thread title and OPs initial posting and consider it a genuine heartfelt objection to transphobia.

If you consider that everything after the said after the first sentence may be deliberately incorrect in order to evoke the required response and set the liberals and homophobic at each others thoats there is a hidden agenda.

OP certainly hasn't participated in his own debate. Some people like to set a cat anongst the pigeons, sit back and watch everyone else fight it out.

But really word play between a gender and agenda. Like most wordplay, once you have to explain it, it loses its panache.

I have no issue with gay men or women. No issue with bi men or women. I have no problem with men who define themselves as women and alter their body to accord with their mind. Equally the other way when a female alters to become male as is the mind set.

What I do have concerns about though is 'gender neutral'. This is not feasible, practical and sounds more of a 'cry for attention'. Surely (in my mind at least) it is impossible to separate yourself from one or other gender? Maybe I am simplistic or unable to compute this 'new trend' but I do find it hard to fathom.

I'm still to understand why it matters so much to people? I genuinely don't care what sex you are, what gender you identify as, all I care about is how you act as a person. I'll do my best to never dead name or misgender anyone, though I'm not perfect.

As far as sex goes, if I fancy you and you are up for it I'll fuck you, or vice versa, I don't care what label people want to attach to it. I just want orgasms with people I fancy and fun while doing so.

I wish people didn't care do much about other people's lives, I really do.

Anyone else sick of this angels on the head of a pin crap? Believe what you want to believe, but show a little respect for people who believe differently, and don't constantly bang on about how wrong they are. Normal followers of different religions seem to manage it, with only the nutty fundamentalists being at each other's throats. So why are we still having gender wars?

The way I see it, if a man only fancies women, he's straight. Not necessarily heterosexual if he has a penis and he fancies women with penises, but still straight if he doesn't fancy other men. But if the trans woman sees herself as a woman, and the guy sees her as a woman, too, where exactly is the gayness? But those are just my thoughts. I'm well aware that others don't agree.

Identify how the hell you like (just please be sincere.) And maybe stop treating sexuality like a straitjacket. Stop branding people 'bi' or 'gay' because they experimented, or sometimes have kinky fantasies that go outside of the parameters of their declared orientation.

Basically, just stop being arses to each other, and learn to live and let live.

Okay. So where do we 'draw lines'?

If I go into a Ladies changing area and claim to be Gender Neutral or non binary or something similar would that be acceptable? I would be going in as a fraud but my claims of not being able to cope or understand my gender specific has led me to consider this my chosen option.

Or do we have to classify people and give them identity cards to prove their claim?

This would surely not be acceptable...

Of course I am playimg 'devils advocate' here as I am perfectly content with my gender but could it be used to gain spurious advantage?

Generally using common sense is the better option. Sex pests will target people whatever.

If you study the outcomes from reasonable states where people initially self-identify, you will likely find that it's similar to separated gender areas in naturist facilities, ie not much, if any problem.

Gender neutral facilities also work, such as at swimming pools, I think, which potentialy could have naked people that some want to get close to.

This was thrown up as a problem by Trump, to appeal to the easily outraged who don't like others having to enjoy freedoms that they take for granted.

Similar to you. There is the biological definition of man and woman (and intersex) and there is biological change (hormones, operations). This results in cis man and woman and trans man and woman.

Gender- is all about how you identify and this is male and female which can be different to the biology, and can be fluid such TVs.

However, if a female decides to keep her penis with no intention of changing the biology, she isn't a woman and won't ever be.

This to me, is simply about definitions. It holds no malice or intention to offend.

As for orientation, that's a matter to whom you are attracted rather than your sex or gender.

If they have a specific gender then of course.

How do you be content with a gender you do not think you have?

As I say I so not understand or compute the neutrality.

I get the man to woman and woman to man but not the being of neither.

The entire substance of being human, to my understanding is relating to either male or female. Not neither.

The law basically states that the moment you declare your intention to permanently live in your new gender role, society must start treating you as that gender, and you are entitled to use the gender's spaces. You don't have to obtain any supporting paperwork.

Bear in mind that it's never been against the law for a man to enter women's toilets or changing rooms. If it were, then male cleaners and plumbers wouldn't be allowed in there. Pub landlords would be barred from parts of their own buildings, even when closed. If someone's intention is clearly voyeuristic or disruptive then they may well be committing an offence.

If you flit between genders anyway, it isn't that big a deal for you to 'do bloke mode' and use men's changing when going swimming. If you're living full time as a woman, it wouldn't be appropriate for you to go into men's changing, presenting as a one.

I'll use disabled changing if it's available, but I've discreetly used women's on a couple of occasions. Nobody in there has batted an eyelid, because I've been very careful not to look at others and to hide away in a corner when changing. Drying off and putting underwear on while still in the shower cubicle seems to be an effective strategy.

There's nothing I'm particularly interested in there, anyway. If my intentions were voyeuristic, I would be in the men's.

XXY qualifies as intersex, though most people who have it will have considered themselves simply as male until diagnosed.

So, objectively, they're intersex male (presuming clearly male and clearly not female external genitalia.) But if you consider sex as a matter of identity (as most of us are tending to do with gender these days.) Then sincerely identify as you like... within reason.

This is actually where I fall off the "Identify how you like" wagon, because, as someone with a legitimate claim to intersex, it hacks me off when people who were born within the norms for male or female *choose* to identify as intersex. The WHO defines intersex as 'a congenital anomaly of the reproductive system.' So present at birth (rather than achieved through hormones or surgery) and whatever you think about gendered brains, a self-diagnosed 'female brain' doesn't count.

I have a number of medical issues arising from the condition that I was born with. As an adult, I ended up having surgery to attempt to get my bladder to start emptying properly, and while it improved the flow, a lot of damage had already been done. For someone to waltz in without any formal diagnosis of a qualifying condition and simply declare themselves to be the same as me, strikes me as massively appropriative. Maybe they should try claiming Down Syndrome and see how far they get.

A woman took a think-tank to an employment tribunal after it decided not to renew her contract.

She had said something on social media re the TG debate about sex being defined at birth.

JK Rowling tweeted: ""Dress however you please. Call yourself whatever you like. Sleep with any consenting adult who'll have you. Live your best life in peace and security. But force women out of their jobs for stating that sex is real? #IStandWithMaya #ThisIsNotADrill."

JK's come in for a lot of stick amid accusations of transphobia.

The militant tendency is up in arms.

This was the case:

A woman who lost her job after saying that people cannot change their biological sex has lost an employment tribunal.

Maya Forstater, 45, did not have her contract renewed after posting a series of tweets questioning government plans to let people declare their own gender.

Ms Forstater believes trans women holding certificates that recognise their transgender identity cannot describe themselves as women.

But that view is "not worthy of respect in a democratic society", a judge said.

Gender passport rules 'unlawful', court hears

Ms Forstater, who had worked as a tax expert at the think tank Center for Global Development, was not entitled to ignore the rights of a transgender person and the "enormous pain that can be caused by misgendering", employment judge James Tayler said.

Ms Forstater was "absolutist" in her view, he concluded in a 26-page judgement.

"It is a core component of her belief that she will refer to a person by the sex she considered appropriate even if it violates their dignity and/or creates an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive environment," he continued.

"The approach is not worthy of respect in a democratic society."

The thing I struggle with the most about trans identities is the whole idea of fluidity that people express, e.g. I'm involved in a group and people have to say "My name is X and I'm a he / she / they". Then if someone refers to another person as "she" they get their head bitten off for "mis-gendering" someone. The next month the same person that likes to be known as "they" says that 'she' wants to be referred to as a "she" this month. But she was a "they" last month. WTF?

She had said something on social media re the TG debate about sex being defined at birth.

JK Rowling tweeted: ""Dress however you please. Call yourself whatever you like. Sleep with any consenting adult who'll have you. Live your best life in peace and security. But force women out of their jobs for stating that sex is real? #IStandWithMaya #ThisIsNotADrill."

JK's come in for a lot of stick amid accusations of transphobia.

The militant tendency is up in arms."

I know this will enrage many of you but Rowling's comments are dismissive of trans people the way that comments about gay people used to (some still do) dismiss them.

Dress, call yourself however you please but don't expect me to accept it is the underlying tone of that tweet.

Forstater didn't have her temporary contract renewed. I am sure that her 'standing up for feminism' was part of the decision not to renew the contract (along with her behaviour in the workplace) but it is not the same, legally, to say she was dismissed.

We have been here before, in the '80s, about how we talk about gay people, their relationships and what they are allowed to do (i.e. adopt, teach, changing rooms, marry).

I have spent my life fighting for women's right and safe spaces for women but I have an absolute (deliberate use) commitment to equity. I don't stand with Maya or Rowling.

Like all debates on both sides there are more extreme views. I cannot see the more militants ever finding a middle ground to agree. I hope the dust will settle on it all and everyone find peace within their hearts. But a bit like Brexit. How do you compromise on polar views? In out, in out and shake it all about..

You cannot often change extreme views but you can live with them.. sadly common sense falls out of the window and courts have to step in.. all very sad..

I'm afraid I don't read into JK's tweet any kind of hate.

Be whoever you are, she is saying, but do not punish women who believe their sex is defined by having a vagina.

I fully support the idea, obviously, that anyone can identify as the opposite gender.

But that doesn't give anyone the right to silence other people's opinion of their history.

For decades there has been a threshold for gender re-assignment - the two-year "real-life experience".

Today's ideologues seem determined to move away from any sort of threshold. It's causing quite a backlash, as you can see.

"Society in this country is definitely sliding backwards.

Brexit has brought this to fore front.

Agreed.

I feel people have felt they can express their dislike for ‘foreigners’ and ‘minority’ groups more freely.

Bless him "

I worked with guys who have business degrees, chucking bags in Gatwick. They worked just as hard as the rest of us. Of course there was lazy ones, but the english lazy ones out numbered them

"What's wrong with people? Its 2019 ffs! Why can't people understand that a self identifying trans woman fucking a man in the arse with her cock is a completely heterosexual act! (In the eyes of law) "

Wow, so angry. So apart from posting provocative threads on a swinging site, what else are you actually doing for the cause ?

I really wasn't angry, i was probably on the loo, passing the time, along with something else. Where do you stand? Do you agree that if I self identified as female right now, then fucked a straight guy in the ass, he could carry on telling people he was 100% straight?

Exactly why i voted remain. Why should British workers do such jobs? Litter picking, public toilet cleaning etc. That's what the migrant work force is for.
