An unknown should have been picked from the start. A big guy, late 30's and grizzled looking, maybe a wrestler type...with hands like supermarket chickens |

I did think of David Bautista, but maybe too old if going for a film series

I've been reading Lee Child for many years and thought of this when the first reacher film was made. Then I thought Aaron Eckhart would be a perfect Reacher and still have no reason to change my mind. |

To old.
Needs to be mid 30's if to make more than 3 films.
That would push him to mid 40's

"Too small too. Reacher is meant to be 6’05 and around 250lbs with hands the size of shovels. Someone who can intimidate people with his sheer presence. "
That’s really narrowing the options though. If you take into account actually being able to act. |

I think the rock style man would have been a better person to play him. I love the books but was so disappointed with Cruise being given the role, he’s way too small and smarmy for it. X |

I am saying mid 30's because you want the same person to do at least 3 film's, or 5 tv series.
(And it is being done for TV so give 6 months/ 1 year per series if 8 programs per series say)
And when hit mid late 40's, doing your own stunts means more broken bones.

Yup, I completely agree. A tricky one to cast.
That being said, that’s half the appeal of the character though and why Tom Cruise just didn’t measure up (excuse the pun).
Realistically someone over 6ft and well built would do the trick but the bigger the better. Lee Child was talking on an interview about this, (for when they do the TV spin off) and he was really keen to cast an unknown that fits the description a lot better. |

"love the books. when reading I always visualise as Jack ....
Jason Momoa
Yeah I thought him, but needs to have short hair.
At least a grade 2.
I just don't see him having long hair.
"
I was thinking more height, build etc but when Jack's travelling I imagine him as long haired to reject the Army/military smart look |

I love the Reacher books and although Tom Cruise doesn't look how Reacher is described, i actually enjoyed seeing him play the part.
I can't remember how old Reacher is meant to be but I'd like Daniel Craig to be Reacher.
To be honest I think either Daniel Craig or Idris Elba can play all male leads in films

Reacher is well into his 40's or even early 50'S as a charecter now. Admittedly his age is never given but you can assume (although it makes an ass of u and me) that he was with the military 20 years, then there are at least 15 books after he left, with only 2 of them running concurrently. The character is aging. |

I was horrified, he is nothing at all like Reacher. I absolutely loved the books but there's no way I'd watch another film with that little goblin playing Reacher. |

"Yes he is getting older, so you start younger and he gets older in line with the books/story.
Speaking of which:
Which book would you pick for the third film?
If you want a younger Reacher then Bad luck and trouble. A slightly older reacher Gone Tommorrow
