Was half joking and half serious when I posted. We had a heated debate at work today about addictions in general and to what extent people could use "addiction" as an excuse for some behaviours, for example a sex addict blaming his addiction for having multiple affairs.

What do people think - Im curious...

I collected nice English china mugs for a couple of years and realised that I d be running out of space for them... that put a stop to my addiction! The other one is not being able to say no to a nice glass of bubbly.... not that I m an alcoholic (yet.....

little house on the praire

I think if you have an addictive personality you have to address it and deal with it the best you can. Lots of people can be addicted to one thing but having an addictive personality is different and you have to try and use it positively rather than negatively

Not sure if this counts:

I obsessively collected shot glasses from different countries I visited. You know, the cheap tacky tourist junk that you can always find at airports. Had about forty of them at one point, then my gf at the time said, "What are you going to do with them?". To which I reply, "I dunno...have a shot drinking party?" She comes back,"Have you ever done that in the ten years you've been collecting them?"

...long pause while I think this through....

...chucked the whole lot in the bin and felt this amazing wave of relief pass over me. It was like the only reason I collected them was because I had to. Because that's what I always did and I was almost more obsessed about finding a shot glass from my holiday than actually enjoying the holiday!

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

"...chucked the whole lot in the bin"

Aw, you should have had one shot drinking party THEN chucked them in the bin.

Hope it was the recycling bin.

My ex was a non-drinker so I think there was a hidden agenda going on there involving not having 40 pissed people trashing the flat! But you're right, I really should've.

I was addicted to working out, it got so bad I was working out for 8 hours a day and started to feel ill if I missed a session. It was taking over my life.

I have fads of buying similar things, until obviously I get fed up or something else catches my interest and I start with that.

If I've bought something I really like, then ill continue buying similar items but in different colours. My fads for vintage style corselettes knows no bounds and I just don't know how many I've got now. Some of it could be classed as obsessional though, like the evening dress fad where I'm buying and I know I won't possibly get to wear all of them.

My current craze is Pandora jewellery, particularly rings, though I have started on the charm bracelet. I hope it ends pretty soon as its quite an expensive craze

southend

I go through stages. Usually food. At one point it was Snickers. Then bread and pate. At the moment it is chilli con carne.

I've had a drug addiction in the past. Alcohol addiction runs in my family, so I've kind of made myself very aware of what I drink, so I don't descend into alcoholism.

I have an addictive personality, I just can't seem to get addicted to anything good for me, like salad or exercising.

If you combine salad and exercising you end up with sexercising... suppose that'll do for now!....

actually as a sex addict.. I used to think that I fucked about because of it.. I now realise it was because I didnt have the right person in my life..

I do get a little bit into things.. like my cars, music, bikes and sex etc..
