Same, if I get a first message from a woman(its a rarity mind) it generally says little more than hello. I go to the effort of tailoring my messages and making them unique to the recipient based on what I have read in their profile or seen in their pictures. I thought this is what women prefer and therefore do themselves.

Messaging cold, I use their profile to talk about what I like about them and what we have in common. I give a genuine, non generic compliment. I respect any stated wishes on the profile. (or, I message in a way that I like to be messaged)
Off the back of a forum post is different, I'm continuing an ongoing conversation in private. |

We would say hello and use their name(s).
Then we would say what we liked about their profile, why we think we could be a good match and ask if they'd be interested in having a conversation. There would be very little of a sexual nature in it. It would mostly be about how we would get on with each other.
Then we would sign off using our names.
We think that's a pretty good template. |

Most messages from single females consist of Hi or Hello how are you. They get the same response we give similar messages from single males.
There is very little put into messaging we find across the whole spectrum of fab. |
