"Honestly no, the hype was more than the film.
is true probably because Nicole and Tom they both in the highlight of their careers and they have so many fans all over the world "
They also had 'real sex' whilst filming. Hence the hype! |

"Kubrick is overrated "
So Spartacus...one of the best known classic movies is overrated?
Clockwork Orange wasn't groundbreaking, influential cinema?
Full Metal jacket isn't possibly the best war movie made?
As for 2001...one of the most advanced technical features ever produced- head, shoulders and a step ladder above most of its contemporaries of 60's cinema in visual stlye....not to mention many, 70's, 80's & 90's movies- until CGI caught up with him (Star Wars probably wouldn't have happened without it- so no lucasfilm/ILM/THX Sound- set up for and SW and developed from its profits (using the effects director from 2001) and all massively influential in cinema of the last 40 years ).
He can be difficult to watch at times, self indulgent at others- but he certainly left a pretty fucking decent visual legacy |

"I use to live next door to the woman who wrote 50 shades...
Eyes wide shut is outstanding compared to that trailer trash crap"
i watched the first movie, didn't find nothing special , never read but they say the movie didn't make justice to the book |

I’ve read a few extracts. The movies made the best of a bad job. It’s amazing what a bit of viral marketing hype can achieve. |

I’ve seen it and at the time I wasn’t impressed... then again not a huge Tom Cruise fan. I can’t however remember why I didn’t like it and I’m thinking I need to watch it again and see if I feel the same way about it. |

"No mostly in the UK
Now make sense the big mansion etc... looks more UK architecture "
The mansion was buil for the Rothschilds ( no conspiracies here guv’ honest ) in Mentmore, Bucks.
The film was cut before it hit the big screen. No idea what was chopped out, but I’d love to have seen the original as Kubrick intended.
Still like it though, dark, erotic and strangely saucy.
Bit like us
