Risk of offending and any offense is unintentional BUT

so many women on fab list themselves as bbw or bigger than average - why do we think fab women fit this profile so often?

I think supposedly the average uk size is a 16 ...

I'd like there to be other options for body size on here

I think you will find that according to the NHS website 64% of the adult population are overweight, so it's just a reflection on society.

Lots of reasons. Dress size, BMI, body image, mental health, media, peers...all affect how a woman perceives her body size.

Doesn't define her as a woman, though..

I'm a size 16 so considered plus size, though it's the average UK female size. So it's not surprising many fit this category

If the average height for a lady is just under 5ft5 and the average dress size is now a 16 then anyone should be able to make their own minds up on this without offending anyone!

I think overweight and bbw are very different things but if that stat is accurate id still say fab has disproportionate representation

Yes it seems maybe 90 or 95% of women on here are over a size 10. This is echoed in clubs as well.

What do you think BBW stands for, if you think it’s very different to someone being overweight?

Id say size 18-20 is pushing into bbw. Size 14 is about aversge?

I checked the stats and am a bit shocked to learn 65%, of adults are overweight and about half of that are those who class as obese. Perhaps fab is just a reflection of society in genersl and my perception is wrong

I'd say so too as size 10 is quite small and a size 12 is hardly large.

Being overweight could be having a bmi of 27 - youd not be thought of as big at that sort of size.

I'd say size 6 is small, 8-10 is "normal" (little or no excess weight) and 12 is curvy.

My point being that the OP is right, in that swinging now seems to be almost exclusively populated by larger women.

Ye this is the thing.

For the sake of giving my opinion...id still say 14-16 rends tonbe thought of as curvey and average. Id class large as 18+ and bbw even bigger.

I disagree with this. You have to take into account height. I would not be classed as normal as a size 8 - 10. If I’m ever that size I’m probably dying and I would certainly not look “normal”.

Unless you're talking American sizing size 6 (even on a very short lady) would be worrying, size 8-10 height dependent is very slim/slim, size 10 slim and size 12 should be average (though again height dependent)

Curvy is a shape not a size, literally can be any size and curvy as it just means the waist is smaller than top and bottom like an hourglass

In my experience (and it is only MY experience) many of the couples profiles in my area and those I have met the women tend to be slim to average whilst the single women tend to be average to BBW.

Why this is so, no idea, I could guess but I would probably be wrong. Being a stick man I tend not to focus on someone’s size

You don't often understand apparently

Scarlet like I said to you yesterday (privately) how about you just avoid my comments like I have done with yours for the past year. It would make it easier. I’m not here for arguments and nastiness. You seem to be the only one who has a problem with me which I accept and don’t have a problem with but don’t try and make me look a twat on the forums because that I don’t accept. "

I didn't see it as negative either. He just asked a question. People tend to get very defensive when body size is mentioned and read insults where there are none.

I'd say size 6 is small, 8-10 is "normal" (little or no excess weight) and 12 is curvy.

My point being that the OP is right, in that swinging now seems to be almost exclusively populated by larger women."

"Yes it seems maybe 90 or 95% of women on here are over a size 10. This is echoed in clubs as well.

I wouldn't consider a size 12 a BBW, would you?

Id say size 18-20 is pushing into bbw. Size 14 is about aversge?

I checked the stats and am a bit shocked to learn 65%, of adults are overweight and about half of that are those who class as obese. Perhaps fab is just a reflection of society in genersl and my perception is wrong "

Yes it is. And actually a size 16 has been the average size of a UK woman since the early 90s.

For the sake of argument id say average size of a fabber is above 16...

You are still not getting it. Its because that is the same for the average UK woman, fabbers or not.

I do get it. You are just being awkward. Above 16 means just that...if uk average is 16 and im saying i think fab average is above this then fab tends to used by largernthan average women. Im wondering if anyone else has noticed.

Not meaning to a pain, what size do you think the average fabber is op?

Id say a median average of 20-22 . Age etc... is a factor probably as swinging tends towards more mature people i guess"

Think I see a variety of sizes here tbh, and lots below the size you suggest. I've been a size 20 and I'm now at 16, and I think I'm around the average. have you thought it might be the kind of women you are drawn to, that might be biasing your opinion?

I genuinely am bemused as to how the OP offends. It’s an observation.

He didn’t say all the messages he got were from Ann Widecombe lookalikes.

He said that the profiles he read described themselves as bbw/curvy and pondered whether the lifestyle attracted that type of person.

Anyway I’m off to tamp down some mountains into molehills

"I genuinely am bemused as to how the OP offends. It’s an observation.

He didn’t say all the messages he got were from Ann Widecombe lookalikes.

He said that the profiles he read described themselves as bbw/curvy and pondered whether the lifestyle attracted that type of person.

Anyway I’m off to tamp down some mountains into molehills "

Don't think he has, as we've been discussing his question around the other things going on in this thread.

I don’t understand this comment. Is it just me?

You don't often understand apparently

This is a totally unnecessary comment, why so rude?

No rudeness. She didn't understand something I said yesterday. Why are you taking it as rudeness?

Oh come on, you know full well it was a bitchy comment.

Ok. Bitchy comment against me are allowed though yeah? Right. I get that. 4 against 1. But I must keep quiet.

What? I only saw you make that bitchy comment. Honestly, there's clearly some issue going on here, I just pulled you up on that comment that I saw, I felt it was unnecessary.

She didn't understand something I said yesterday so I commented that she often didn't understand. True comment. Not bitchy. You took it that way for whatever reason.

People seem to think it's ok to assume my intentions behind my comments. It's often unfair. But I let it go. Not this time. The forum mafia aren't putting me off posting.

Are you OK? Forum Mafia? Hardly. Her not understanding something twice hardly calls for you to say she often doesn't understand things.

I'm going to leave you to it now, this is far too dramatic for a Sunday evening.

Thanks. I'm not sure why you felt the need to pull me up on a comment that was nothing to do with you anyway. No drama where I'm concerned just wondering why other people are jumping on one comment. "

Probably because it was uncalled for and put in a way to offend. You call it stating a fact but most would call it rude. Just like the forum mafia comment really. You often refer to forumites in negative terms, even though you’re one yourself and hang around in here just like everyone else.

I didn’t understand his comment either

I haven't seen many people offended, more just people discussing what size bbw is and how the average size is now bigger than it was years ago.

I personally didn't see anything offensive in his posts, he was just curious.

Me neither!! What is the point of this thread: are we discussing whether the larger lady on fab is a good thing or a bad thing? Are we complaining or bragging? Who cares!!! Enjoy swinging, play with who you want to play with, leave everyone else to do this own thing.

"I'd say so too as size 10 is quite small and a size 12 is hardly large.

I'd say size 6 is small, 8-10 is "normal" (little or no excess weight) and 12 is curvy.

My point being that the OP is right, in that swinging now seems to be almost exclusively populated by larger women.

Unless you're talking American sizing size 6 (even on a very short lady) would be worrying, size 8-10 height dependent is very slim/slim, size 10 slim and size 12 should be average (though again height dependent)

Curvy is a shape not a size, literally can be any size and curvy as it just means the waist is smaller than top and bottom like an hourglass "

Curvy is a shape not a size.

These threads annoy me because women bodyshame others and there is no need for that.

I'm short and fat I have curves, size 14, I would never class myself as a bbw. However I have been called one.

My observation that she often didn't understand was no more bitchy than someone's observation that my comments are often negative.

And calling people forum Mafia isn’t offensive?

If the cap fits then clearly it is.

Name calling of any sort is what bullies do in my experience. "

Just how it feels with you all digging your oar in over a comment that was taken way out of context and actually is none of anyone else's business. So when you all wade in, yes it does feel a bit like mafia involvement. Not name calling and really hardly bullying when it's me against the rest of you

Probably because it was uncalled for and put in a way to offend. You call it stating a fact but most would call it rude. Just like the forum mafia comment really. You often refer to forumites in negative terms, even though you’re one yourself and hang around in here just like everyone else.

I didn’t understand his comment either

I hadn’t commented on this thread until after the mafia comment and the reason I did is because its not right for you to be able to say that. There is no forum mafia there are just people that disagree with you and you don’t like it. Several people found your comment unpleasant.

I was stating a dammed fact given the last interaction I had with the woman was her not understanding a comment. I'm not sure why everyone found that so flipping offensive and have turned it into something huge. I'm not backing down in this instance because this is what you all do. Latch onto something until the other person gives in. Hence my mafia comment. So carry on if you like. Not sure what you're trying to achieve having waded in.

I find it saddening and exhausting how often there are threads that seem to pit various body sizes against eachother.

No one likes to feel they are inherently unattractive because of their body shape or size.

Fact is, there’s someone out there who will fancy the pants off you - whatever your appearance. I wish we could remember an celebrate that more rather than tear eachother down.
