I quite like going to the GUM clinic its become part of a routine and the people there are friendly, not a big fan of the bum swab though.
But this is progress OP, the more people keeping tabs on their health, the better |

Unsurprisingly this is still not available in Lincolnshire.
We were delighted to be able to get the tests at The Attic on Saturday night though - hope it becomes a regular thing, as it's easier than booking appointments locally. |

Bonus! (don't know how we've missed it before though)
We'll have to make a special effort to always go when the testing team are there |

"Just thought I'd inform those that didn't know that you can perform the test at home for free.
Derby is now included in the free service.

I've only been to the Attic a few times and was lucky to go on the night the test team was there.
The online option is new to Derby so hopefully it'll be rolled out across England.
It's great to see people being proactive with their sexual health |

"Some people think they only need to get tested if their bits turn green. "
Unfortunately this is true. I've asked people when their last test was and they said 'I've not had one as it's clean and smells fresh' |

Sh:24 still not available in my area.
Like others, my last night in my local club had testing. Got all clear 6 days ago. I usually go every 3 months when I get my pill, this was a bonus one |

Yep. Or they think only 'risky' people get tested.

Also a fan of the GUM clinic but not a fan of the bum swab! Weird, isn’t it, that I love anal sex - but find shoving what is essentially just a cotton bud up my arse very uncomfortable! |

I go to the clinic too. I just moved from a town where it is very easy to get a check to a town where it is an absolute palaver. Only available in the next town. Can't even do it at GP - the service is by appointment and the hours aren't worker friendly.
I now see the benefits of a test by post. However it isn't free here Uff.. I miss Blackpool. |

My GP surgery when taking bloods for testing for illness, also include testing for STI's, HIV etc as standard.
I'm also on a Pain Relief Drug Trial, for which I have been extensively medically screened to ensure I've good health.
At each monthly appt, bloods are taken for testing on site, and results are supplied before I've finished my time there.
Good point is at present, I've no major illness or medical issues. |

That's all good but does that include a pecker check? |

"You can't beat the gum clinic as they will look after you with good advice and caring staff. You also get free condoms, lube and hepatitis vaccinations."
I wish that was always true. When I was 19 (just a few short years ago ) I went to a GUM as my, then, fiancé had cheated on me and I’d started to feel unwell. As it turned out he’d caught chlamydia and passed it on to me. I got my self treated but after a while still felt unwell so decided to return to the clinic to be sure. It was the same Dr I’d seen previously and he was extremely rude and a little aggressive, asking why I’d come back and was I trying to say he’d treated me incorrectly.
He did an examination and took samples but was so rough, banging things around and throwing equipment on to the table. I was peeing blood for a good while after.
I was in shock at the time and just went home and cried.
Looking back I really regret not making a complaint.
Thankfully all my other experiences of visiting the clinic have been good, but even now I still get a feeling of dread sometimes when I’m going in.

I like visiting the clinics and we have some amazing staff. They're needed still, as many people don't have ready access to knowledgeable, non-judgemental people.
As others say, getting tested without symptoms is important |

Oh my god darling - that is atrocious behaviour on his part and needs to be pulled up on it.
If you are using the same clinic and that person is still employed you can report.
Never Ever should someone be treated as callously as that and under no circumstances should it be tolerated.
SH24 - we have tried it ourselves and love the fact that it’s can fit around our schedules but DO people look out for any signs that things aren’t right in that region for your own health and others.
